My kid may or may not be seeing ghosts. lol. I'm kidding. Kind of.
Anyone's child stare at things that aren't there... And laugh, smile, or cry? Jack does this, usually when he is in his swing. Sometimes his clear target is the light fixture on the ceiling, but other times it is literally a blank white wall.
One day my grandmother saw him do it in the kitchen at my parents' place and she said he was "talking to the angels" and "all babies do it". lol. Ok, gram. Wait. What?
It's getting to the point where it is starting to freak me out a little. Yesterday he alternated between looking scared/whimpering to smiling/laughing. Today it was all smiles and laughs. DH refuses to talk about when I bring it up (even though I am only joking and laughing about it) because he is terrified of ghosts.
Do I need to call that Long Island Medium from TLC? Heh. No, but seriously, are your kids doing this too??
Re: Smiling at the ceiling
Yes, my son also smiles at the ceiling.
Yup. LO does the same, especially when we're changing him on the changing table. When we follow his line of vision, he's not looking at anything specific. DH has asked several time if this was normal. He loves looking at lights too.
DH and I watched this too! And when they mentioned that we looked at each other with our eyes wide.
I mean, yes, sometimes he is looking at the light fixture or the fan, and I know he is working on focusing, but it's the times when he is literally staring at nothing and doing this that it's freaking me out.
DD does this too. Especially in her nursery. She loves to stare at the Angle Care Monitor and at the wall with the huge tree decal. She will also stare at the windows, lights, picture frames, ceiling, and if there's a ceiling fan - she LOVES them! She will smile and coo. It's quite funny. I am convinced she sees our grandmothers.

M does exactly this too :-)
Yep, Evelyn loves to look and talk to the walls/ceiling. It can give me the creeps sometimes, but I think it's just since it's in their view most of the time. Also there is alot of contrasting lines between the ceiling and walls.
If you've seen the movie Incedious it will give you the creeps. There's a part when the lady looks up at the ceiling to describe the demon she sees and that part freaked me out!!!!!
