Question for BFing TTC mamas

I hope this doesn't seem like a silly question, but I'm unclear about fertility returning postpartum. If your cycle has come back and is regular and you seem to be ovulating, does anyone know if your odds of conception are still decreased due to hormone fluctuations from nursing?  I have had my cycle back since January. TIA!

    I don't know how helpful this is, just wanted to share my experience. I got my cycle back when DD was 11 months - I ovulated once and got pregnant, so it's possible for it to happen right away. I think it's different for everyone; some people seem to need to wean completely before getting KU. Good luck!

    Thanls for sharing! I have read that some people need to wean completely, but just not clear if those people had regular cycles or needed to ween in order to get their cycles back.

    Even if you are O'ing, you can sometimes have a difficult time getting pregnant if your LP is too short, which is fairly common with many women who are still nursing. If that's the case, then I've heard it's best to try to tamper with your nursing schedule a little! Good luck!

    I've had 6 full cycles now. The first two were annovulatory, but the rest I have ovulated. But my LP is so short 8-10 that I'm not getting KU. At this rate, cutting nursing sessions doesn't seem to be lengthening my LP. I'm trying B6 this cycle, but I'm not hopeful. I know plenty of women get pregnant while BFing, it seems like its luck of the draw though.

    BFP # 1- DS ~ TTC #2 since Jan. 2012 - BFP # 2 - "Baby Elsie" - Blighted Ovum - D&C August 22, 2012 at 7w3d, BFP # 3 - CP - December 30, 2012, BFP # 4 - CP - March 19, 2013 ~ First RE Appt. 4/24/13 Med cycle #1: 50mg Clomid and Trigger shot = BFN. Med. Cycle #2: 6 cysts found. No meds/rest cycle. Trying on our own = BFP # 5! Beta #1 = 77, Beta #2 = 129 Beta #3 = 94 - CP - July 2, 2013. BFP # 6! Beta#1 = 21, Beta#2 =58 Beta#3 = 134. U/S shows heartbeat of 142 at 7w2d!

    Ha, I just realized I forgot the most important part. Oops! I was pretty much still breastfeeding on demand when I got my cycle back and was just cutting back to 5 times a day or so when I got pregnant. I'm still nursing DD twice a day now, at 18 Months and 28 weeks pregnant.

    Igot my period back 8 months pp and it was "regular"-27-32 days. I started charting and discovered a short LP. I have known plenty ofpeople to get pg while nursing, but know a number of ladies on here experienced a short LP. I also know my hormones are out f whack based on conversations with my dr (I have an estrogen deficiency, which I've opted not to supplement for the time being). I made the decision to wean at almost 15 months to see if I can get my hormones back to normal on their own. Good luck!
