Any tips for helping my 8 month old sleep better through the night?

We start our daughter off in her crib, and about 3 hours into the night (when she wakes for a meal) we move her into the bed to co-sleep. She is 8 1/2 months old and suddenly sleeping terrible in her own crib and in our bed, but worse in the crib. I am hoping to try some things to make her sleep better. Any ideas? I've tried nature soundscapes (helped a little), a blanket in the crib (worked for 3 hours until I got nervous about safety), and increasing her food during the day.

Let me know if you have any ideas.

  • That was the absolute low point for sleep for us. I nearly lost my mind. He was up every 30-90 minutes for weeks.

Hang in there. I think mostly he grew out of it. I had to get some help in the mornings so I could sleep from 7 - 9 am or I might have lost it on him.

  • Months 9-13 were pretty bad for DS1, and DS2 has never been a great sleeper.  You are not alone!  Do what you can & hope this stage (teething, mobility, separation anxiety) passes eventually!
  • I recommend reading the book The Sleep Lady's Good Night Sleep Tight by Kim West. This is something I just started and it is actually working great for us and my LO is 8 months old also.
