Hoping now MIL gets the point

So DH went to the dentist today. I didn't know what he was getting done. Thought just a check up or something. He was gone about 4 hours & I was asleep when he got home. He comes into the bedroom crying. Didn't get a chance really to ask him what was going on before the doorbell rang - twice. He yelled at the doorbell (yeah, he actually did that) & I told him to lay down & that I would get it. Guess who it was?!? MIL. Of freaking course. So I tell her "It's NOT the best time." (with of course a not so pleasant look on my face) & she was all like "OK!!!!!" & pretty much storms off.

It's HER fault for coming over without us knowing (apparently she called but I was upstairs asleep & didn't answer - because, you know, that what parents of newborns try to do) & without any consideration to us as to what we may be doing or what may be going on.

But as it turns out DH had all of his wisdom teeth pulled but the dentist couldn't get the roots out. So I have to take him to a surgeon Thursday. I can already tell it's gonna be a fun week.

Re: Hoping now MIL gets the point

  • Omg i do feel sorry for you this week. Try to take it easy and i am glad you got your point across. We got ours across to my mil on saturday :). Yay awesome dh. She will finally quit treating me like her surrogate. I swear we have tbe same mil. And good luck with the thursday appt. Get your husband tea bags if you wet them and put them on the wounds it makes the blood clot and wound heal quicker :)

  • my mouth hurts just reading this. Hope your Hubby can hang in there and that the week breezes by quickly.
  • Thanks. His bleeding has already about quit. I told him I'm happy that I never had wisdom teeth. I'm just waiting for the 'backlash' I'll get from MIL. But at the same time I so don't care. I'm tired of tip-toeing around, trying to be nice to her. With everything we've done for her you'd think she'd be a heck of a lot more considerate & respectful.
  • First your poor dh!! I've had three children on all natural and still swear having my wisdom teeth out was worse!! But mine were chipped out of my jaw bone.

Second, try being kind and honest with your mil, then if she gets mad at least you took the high road.

Third not all parents of newborns even try to nap, those of us with more than one kid don't have that time, so enjoy it now.

Yeah I am so thankful to not have wisdom teeth. DH jokes that I don't know what it's like to have them removed & he doesn't know what it's like to have a c/s! Lol!

It seems like with every year DH & I are together, and the more crap his family puts me though (house broken into, vehicles vandalized, drugs brought into our home - just to name a few), it gets harder & harder to be kind.

I do try to enjoy the few times I get to nap/sleep. Which is why it really upsets me if I get woken up by her. Especially since it seems like she's the only one out of our families that can't seem to understand that having visitors all the time isn't the best thing right now. Hasn't been since, well, we came home from the hospital. Heck both her & SIL seem to think DH took a month off of work for them - not for the baby & to help me recover.
