Ugh, I hate the process of finding out where you'll PCS to next. Why do they even let you pick your top 5 if it all seems to be like a giant craps shoot anyways? Why do they guarantee you that you won't go back to where you just came from (Bliss) if it then appears that Bliss is now a possibility again? Grrr.
Our top 5 were
Campbell
Richardson
Germany
Carson
Bragg
All but Carson were eliminated right off the bat. Then were were told we would be sent to either Carson, Stewart or Benning. Then a mass email was sent out saying that too many people (28) had those 3 on their top 5 and there are only 8 slots open so people needed to rethink their choices. Then were were told Carson is now out of the running. No word on Benning but Stewart is still an option and apparently so is Bliss (again). I do not want to go back to Bliss. We just finally moved away from there and the first time we went there it was in our bottom 2!
Re: Grrr... PCS stress
There are many posts, bases, etc in Germany. Maybe there is more than one option if you want Germany. If you want a list for Army posts in Germany - here is a link with a list https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_Army_installations_in_Germany
For CONUS here is a link to a list. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_Army_installations
Hopefully that could help in finding something besides Ft. Bliss (especially if you don't want to go back there). Also depending on career field, sometimes there are openings at AF or Navy bases.
Also sometimes there are openings available for special duty assignments. One example is the post office. A friend did a two year special duty in Germany at one of the post offices there - even though his career field involved computers.
There are options, just try to get them looked at quick before any orders are cut.
