I cannot sleep because my husband is not here

I'm used to his long hours at work, but right now he's in San Diego for a court hearing tomorrow. I don't know if you all remember the issue with his daughter, but she was taken from her mother a few months back. We talked to a social worker that is working on the case and things were pretty bad. Jade (his daughter) was being abused sexually, mentally, and physically by her own mother. Her mother has been doing drugs like meth and cocaine for years now, living with abusive drug addict boyfriends. Jaime (the mother) is currently 7 months pregnant with her 4th child and has been in the hospital 3 times due to preterm labor from her drug abuse, testing positive for oxycodones, meth, and cocaine. This woman is sick!!!!! Come to find out that the first 9 years of Jade's life she was living with grandma and grandpa (Jaime's parents), who not only adore and love her, but think of her as their own. The grandparent's had no idea Chris was paying childsupport or looking for Jade all these years. Jade is now 13 and in the care of the grandparents by court order. Chris will be testifying in court tomorrow to finally establish custody and a relationship he's been wanting ever since she was born. They met for the first time today and him and her are just so thrilled to finally see each other. He bought her a Jane twilight doll since she loves the twilight series, and he said she was so happy he got her a gift. He said she is very tall for her age at 5ft, 9inches!!!!!! He sent me a pic and I have to say she is gorgeous!!! I'm just happy that things are finally working out for them and this is going to be awesome for them to finally get to have a relationship. Jade wants to live with her grandparents but wants to visit her dad during summer vacations, which would be so sweet for her to see her little half sister and stepsisters. I will update you all in a couple days to let you know how it all goes down in court. Wish him luck!

Wow, Jamie sounds like quite the gem...I feel so sorry for your hubby's daughter and her(Jamie's) unborn child! Ugh, some people are just so sick!
I seriously got a little choked up reading about your DH and his daughter getting to meet and how they are both excited to finally have connected! Good for them!

Thank you! I know the situation is not ideal, but it seems to be working out great! Yeah, Jaime is the worlds biggest cuunt! According to Chris she has always had issues with drugs, which is why they never worked out. She just left and dissappeared right after paternity was established. If only he would have known Jaime tossed Jade to the side to let her parents raise her he would have jumped right in. I think it's crap the court system have no issues recieving his childsupport payments, but when he asked about contact info for where it's going, they couldn't give that info to him. He's been paying childsupport to Jaime all these years and none of it has been used to support Jade. Most likely it's been feeding Jaime's drug addictions. I just cry for her children. People like this shouldn't be parent's!
I am glad the first meeting went well- I imagine your husband was stressed about how that may go. That's awesome that his daughter has her grandparents and your husband to look after her the proper way. I wish everyone a smooth transition into this new situation.
