No poop for 2 days...WTF?!?

My 4 month old hasn't pooped in 2 days!!!  There is pee in every diaper, so he's not dehydrated, but still...2 days!  Where is the poop?!?  Think I should be concerned? He is breast fed but was introduced to squash last week and green beans this weekend/week.

Re: No poop for 2 days...WTF?!?

  • Careful!! lol Kyle didnt go for 3 days and when he finally did it was our first ever EXPLOSION. We've had blowouts but this one had force behind it. I came in this morning to find FI covered, the changing table covered, 2 blankets down, his onesie suddenly a brown mess and Kyle was all smiles and covered in it!!

I'm ashamed to say I laughed and went back to bed as it was his night and they dont happen too often :) Ashamed but not sorry.

  • Mine did not go for 6 days last week. I was a nervous wreck every time we left the house. She finally went yesterday while at home ( thank goodness). I think it is normal for them to go less often at this age. She's usually an everyday girl.

  • It's really common for them to suddenly change pooping habits. Mine went everyday then all of a sudden stopped. All at once she went to pooping every 3-5.days. Once she went nine days without a poop. As long as there is no straining, it's totally normal.

  • Eli has an 11 day record. When he was only EBF he was a once a week pooper but now that we've done solids, it's more every 2-3 days.

  • Jackson has a 18 day record. Don't worry. BF babies don't poop as much because breastmilk absorbs faster into the body. Jackson goes maybe once a week. And when he does, he's usually in his jumperoo and it goes up his back : / My pedi said as long as it appears he's comfortable and not in pain  and the poop is still liquidy and not coming out in clumps, don't worry. She also said if it's be 10 days, to try the thermometer trick.
