Bottles

If you are using bottes, what kind do you use?  Do you like them?  We are currently using the Platex drop ins and are happy with them.  But, DD is having a lot of issues with spit up and gas.  Dr. Brown's bottles were recommended to me to help minimize this.  They do have extra parts and seem more of a pain.  I was just wondering if anyone has ever used them and if they worked.  Also, I hear a lot of about how certain babies like certain bottles.  Silly question, but does your baby just reject the bottle if they don't like it?

  • My dd took to the avent ones really well. It has the wide nipple there is an extra part that helps prevent all the bubbles but its just a little ring that goes at the nipple.i agree the dr browns looks way too involved for me, didnt even want to go there. I heard the playtex venti air works good as well. We also use bm and similac sensitive for her gassiness. She gets it bad. Good luck

  • We are using Born Free bottles. My LO is doing well with them. They are the only type of bottle I have tried.

My BIL uses Dr. Brown's for his DD who has bad gas problems. He says they work well for her but they are a PITA to clean with all the parts.

  • We were using the Playtex drop ins as well but made the switch to Dr. Browns.  I was a little intimidated by the parts but it really isn't bad at all!

We used the drop ins with DD1 and never had an issue with her.  But DD2 has reflux and was taking in a ton of air with them.  You could tell she didn't latch onto the nipple properly and would almost slurp.  The smaller nipple on the Dr. Browns really helps and she just seems more happy while she is taking her bottle.

Thanks all!  I bit the bullet and bought the Dr. Brown's.  If they work, the extra parts and cleaning will be well worth it.
