I've brought them on the past 4 flights I've been on since April and I just tossed them into one compartment of my back pack with no problems. Here are the only special requirements for food from the TSA....
Thank you! Any other tips toshare? I'm starting to get anxious....
Ask the flight attendants when you first board the plane if there is a changing table in any of the restrooms....3 of the 4 flights I've been on were equipped with them and I basically had to make due for the 4th flight and figure out how to change her diaper on top of the toilet (with the seat down and a changing pad; not idea but I had no other choice) b/c the flight attendant offered me no other alternatives.
Some things I brought with me to entertain DD - her straw cup, some small board books, and a few random toys I picked up and did not show her ahead of time. I brought the squeeze food pouches and she ate straight from them. I also brought some of those dried yogurt melts for babies and crackers. I was afraid of her making too much of a mess so I tried to pack only foods that weren't super messy. DH and I picked up our own lunches ahead of time and brought them onto the plane and I did feed her some small bites from my sandwich as well. I'm still breastfeeding her and I was able to discreetly feed her by wearing a nursing tank underneath my regular shirt along with a light blanket.
Flying with her wasn't easy, but it could have been much worse. She only cried when she was really tired and either didn't want to or couldn't fall asleep with all of the new things to look at. I had a rough time getting her to nap on the plane. Some people say the opposite, though - that their LO's are lulled to sleep by the "white noise" that the engines make.
