Postpartum Hemerrhoid Club only... I have a disturbing problem

Okay every time I have a bowel movement there is tons of blood... I looked down yesterday and there was blood just dripping into the toilet.. it was horrific.. now it's so painful I can't go and I have a mental block about it. I used some prep H externally but it still hurts inside and I don't understand why there is so much blood. This is very disturbing. I may never poop again. What do I do and how quickly can I fix this???

  • Have you talked to your dr about it? That soubds horrible! The only time I've had them I used the prep H suppositories and sitz baths frequently. I think the suppositories are better than the cream.

  • I didnt have the blood but I did have hemerrhoids that were so bad I would cry when I knew I was going to have to go to the bathroom.  I went in to the Dr and they were able to get me more regular so that it wouldnt be as painful.  I wonder if you are so constipated that it is hurting the hemerrhoids when you have a bowel movement?  Also the Danactive drinks have really helped me a lot to be more regular.

  • You should talk to your doc. It's possible to have an internal one that ruptures. Feel better soon.

  • i hate to admit this... but i am the hemorrhoid QUEEN.  a title that i wish i didn't have.  i had them so bad that i had surgery on them the day before my due date and then i had surgery again on them eight days after my baby was born.

my hemorrhoid pain were so terrible that i couldn't handle the pain anymore so i called my doctor wanting a stronger cream but she sent me to the surgeon instead.

i strongly recommend calling your doctor... the pain isn't worth it and it may just take a visit to a doctor to help you along with your healing. i know anything dealing with your butt is embarrassing but i have totally gotten over spreading my cheeks to doctors... :) i hope you feel better soon! hemorrhoids are the PITTS!

  • I've had the same problem after my LOs too; it's not pleasant. Stool softeners every day, tons of water and high fibre foods, and apply prep H liberally! And of course, talk to your dr if it doesn't get better/you're really concerned.

Lurker. Mine were that bad. Dulcolax 3 times per day and tucks pads. It totallywent away by 6 months but i thought i was going to have surgery.

I pushed for 3 hours during delivery. It DOES get better.

I pushed for four hours. It was horrible. Right now I am in major pain. I have been trying sitz baths and Tucks pads, but they only help a little bit. Make sure that you continue taking the stool softeners. Also, use wipes instead of toilet tissue when you use the restroom.

All of this with the addition of Tucks pads and Metamucil.

  • I am eight weeks post-partum and the hemi situation has by far been the most awful part of recovery. I had bleeding too and was prescribed 25mg hydrocortisone suppositories for 14 days 2x/day. Not fun at all, but I think they are getting better (i.e. no bleed for @ 5 days). I am also taking Miralax every day to keep BMs going. The few times I have stopped has resulted in immeasurable discomfort and painful BMs to the point I didn't want to go anymore! I am BF as well, drink lots of water, eat veggies and fruits, but still am not regular even with the Miralax. I pray one day I can stop the Miralax and suppositories, but for now, I'm following this plan. Good luck!
  • Oh yes. I've had this. You probably have some anal fissures (spelling on that?) as well that are causing the bleeding. No fun.

  • I have an internal hemorrhoid from my first baby.  It bled a fair amount, so I went to my family dr who referred me to a general surgeon.  He ended up doing a colonoscopy to see what was going on.  That's when they told me what it was.  He said if I started to bleed heavily from it, they could band it.  I never had to have that done, but I'd make sure to keep your stool soft to reduce issues in the area.  It sucks being scared to poop!  Might not be a bad idea to follow up with your dr either, just to confirm thats whats bleeding.  Good luck!
