I was contacted by a woman today that wants to give up her child. She is 14 weeks pregnant and lives in Florida. We live in Texas. Can someone tell me what needs to be done next? What the laws are? Do we go by the laws in Florida or the laws in Texas? We are totally new to adoption and don't know how this works. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Re: Considering independent adoption, need help!!!
Definitely contact a lawyer, and make sure you are homestudy ready.
From what my lawyer said a couple years ago, I think the laws in FLA are really favorable toward adoptions, and finalizing in Florida may be your best bet (like they finalize in a couple weeks if I'm not mistaken) but, you can also finalize in Texas.
You will likely need a lawyer in both states. Find one in yours first, they may work with someone in the sending state they can recommend.
TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!
Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!
