Hi all! I have been posting here on and off for the last month or two but mostly lurking and wanted to give my formal intro. We've been TTC #2 for the last two months; I went off the mini pill and stopped nursing in May because I had been bleeding for 29 days straight (first pp AF was NOT what I expected). Since then, my cycles have been slowly getting back to 'normal.'
We are TTA this month. I am on CD4 and we decided back when we started TTC that if I wasn't pregnant by July, we'd TTA this cycle because of a huge family vacation we have to Maine in August. Last time we went to Maine, I was 14w pregnant and sick as a dog! It'll be nice to eat a lobster this time, ha.
Anyway - quick question regarding temps. I've read that most people have wacky temps during AF, but how large is the variation on average? This is only my second cycle temping - last cycle I temped but it was a mess of open circles because I temped anywhere from 7am-11am. This cycle, I temp at 7am every morn after a good amount of sleep, but I am seriously getting full degree spikes and drops. Normal? This has no bearing on anything, really, I'm just curious.

Anywho, looking forward to getting to know the ladies here. I have seen a few amazing BFP stories already and look forward to more!
Re: Intro and a temp question...
Welcome, I am new here too! I have no answers for you on the temping cause I haven't started yet. I just wanted to say I am jealous you are going to Maine. It is my favorite vacation spot. What part of Maine, if you don't mind me asking?
Oh and GL!
We're headed up the coast, staying a night in Camden then 7 nights in Acadia National Park. It's my favorite vacation spot, too! I've been going since I was a kid and just love every bit of it. How about you??
I responded in your intro, too, but GL again!
And thanks, Grace - you're right, I'm sure it won't seem so drastic when I get further into the cycle.
I have not temped during my period since I started temping vaginally several months ago, and I can't remember what my temps did prior to that. I had wacky temps when I was temping orally, and that is why I started doing it vaginally. You may want to consider that next cycle if they are all over the place for the rest of this one. It is also very important that you take your temp the same time everyday (or within 30 minutes of your normal temp time) and after at least 3 or 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
Welcome and good luck to you!

Every person is different, so it is hard to say what's "normal," but i've been temping for about a year (about 9 months TTA, now on our third month/2nd cycle TTC). For me, my AF temps start out high (around my post-O temps from the previous cycle), then slowly drop, and I'm down around 96.8 by the time AF is over, then it stays there till I O, when it jumps up to around 97.5 I'm a relic from the dinosaur ages and I chart on paper so I don't have charts that you can click through, but that is what is normal for me.
Not to pry into your life, but do you temp after a night of drinking alcohol? For me, if I have much more than 2 drinks, my temp is way high the next morning- like a full degree jump sometimes. (TCOYF warns of this as well).
