VBAC

Here we go! (New to this thread)

So, today is the day I give my OB the forms electing a VBAC. I'm excited, and nervous and all sorts of emotions about it, but my last OB knew I would have never chosen a csect, so he made sure when he did my incisions for #1 that I would be a good candidate for a vbac (it was reassuring to hear that less than 20min after my csect, even 4 years ago). After weighing all pros and cons, My heart is all for the VBAC, and DH is on board with the risks (he rarely goes to my check ups, but I made him go with on that one since I was scheduled to have that talk with the doc).

I dislike that I will have to be monitored the entire time, but I'm going to ask a few questions about that to clarify, but after lurking here for a little while, I'm thankful I won't have to worry about some of the see-saw opinions others have gotten. I know my OB will most likely not be delivering my baby, it's not how my medical group works, but I also know that they are highly standardized, so other docs have to follow the same protocol.

The biggest bummers so far are knowing I have to be strapped to monitors (according to my OB that's the only way they'd know if I had a unterine rupture), and that they won't induce if it would involve ripening the cervix...so if I I go past my EDD too far, I may have to get a RCS...

According to the odds they gave me, I have a 75% chance of success, and I love those odds.

  • Welcome to the board and congrats, I hope everything works out perfect for you!

  • You sound ready and confident, which I think is important.  I was induced with pitocin and got my vbac.  You might want to ask your provider if they'll do that.

good luck and keep us posted!
