Timeframe between 1st c sec & vbac??

Is there a required time that you must have between your c section and a subsequent pregnancy and vbac that you ladies are aware of? I'm just wondering because I had one in February and my dr told me to wait at least 6 month's to even try to get pregnant again and I would love to try for a vbac next time but am concerned if there must be years in between??

    There isnt a required time frame but doctors prefer a minimum of 12 months between delivery of the first and conception of the next. This gives everything time to heal up properly.

    It took us a year to conceive our first and our doctor told us the same thing, wait 6 months at least before trying again. Well, we waited 8 months, thoght that was long enough and started trying again. We got pregnant on the first weekend we started trying! It is a wonderful blessing but we had to go through 3 doctors and a different hospital to find a practitioner that would let us try a VBAC.

    Unless you have to go ahead and try for some reason, I would wait to TTC until 12 months have passed. Better safe than sorry :)

    I just had a VBAC and I asked this question at my pp appointment. I was told to wait 12 months.

    My doctor told us to wait 2 years, or they wouldn't consider a VBAC.

    Studies show that an interbirth interval of less than 18 months increases the chance of rupture, so ideally your births will be 18 months apart or more.  But of course different doctors will always have different opinions, and it is still possible to have a safe VBAC with closer pregnancies.

    I was told to wait 12 months to conceive, although from what I understand there are practitioners who will do a VBAC with closer spacing. I ended up getting pregnant when my oldest was 14 months and having a successful VBAC 22 months past C section.

    I was told 1 year as well.  Then I got pregnant and found out when DD was 10 months.  Had my first appointment yesterday and asked if I can still do a VBAC and the doctor was ok with it.

    After my c/s I wasn't given a set amount of time to wait.  I told them I would be VBACing my next baby and they just told me that was great- no limitations were given.  It really depends on the provider.  But yes, I have read that at least 18 months between births in the general minimum otherwise.

    There is no "set" one, I think the number changes from doc to doc. My doc won't do them unless there is an 18 month gap b/t the c/s & the vbac. But not everyone is like that. They gave me the all clear at 6 months to TTC again if we wanted. But I would likely not be able to shoot for a VBAC with them if I got pregnant right away. We didn't try until after 2 years, so not really an issue for us.

    Samesies.  When I went for my 6 week the OB said that whenever I were to get pregnant again I would be a good candidate for a VBAC.  My children will be 15.5 months apart.

    This. Except mine will be 13 months apart. I'm praying this baby moves into a head down position, though.

    I was told i could try for a VBAC my kids are 13 months apart ( ended up having a repeat and never tried labour cause the baby was so big)
