DH and I cloth diapered DS almost until he was potty trained. At the time, we lived in an apartment that had a washer/dryer in the garage so it was no problem. We have since moved to a much bigger apartment but sadly, no washer and dryer. The laundromat is only a 2 minute walk but I hear laundromats frown upon people washing dipes there.
Since we are renting, I am not sure if we can put a washer and dryer in the apartment nor do I think we have space for them. Maybe small ones?
Does anyone have any suggestions/ideas? I have over 40 diapers and was really looking forward to CD'ing DD. I see these piles and piles of throw-aways and I am sad.
Re: Sad...any ideas?
You can hand wash diapers. I did it for a bit. It sucks, but it works. I did a tutorial on my blog, you can see here.
After about a month of doing that we purchased a Haier portable washing machine from Craiglist. It hooks up to our kitchen sink (bathroom sink would probably work too) and takes up very little space. Works great for CDs! I've discovered that 9 dipes and inserts can be washed in it at a time.
ETA: The washer spin dries everything pretty well and we just put the dipes on a drying rack to line dry.

This is our exact plan! CD is a money saving thing for us, so paying for laundry in our building isn't something I'm interested in.
