Addicted to EC

My LO is almost 4mos (  2.5 adjusted) I have been negligent in creating a ticker.

I am at home right now so I thought I would try EC as a fun experiment, mostly to spice up my day. I thought it sounded a little crazy and didn't think it would work or that we would ever get the hang of it. It is so much fun, I love it! I think LO loves it too.

I have a diaper on her most of the time, I would say we are EC light. But, I usually only have to change it 2 or 3 times a day. I put her on a mat for awhile too, I've only missed once so far doing that. It's really exciting when you have a day of catches. It feels good not to have as much garbage. Im thinking about switching to cloth for the diapering we are doing since its mostly just pee anyway.  Who else is doing this? Anyone know of any EC boards?

Re: Addicted to EC

  • I just started today and was sooo excited to get my first catch the first time I tried after her feeding.  Of course, I then tried to put her down for a nap after reading a story and she was fussing like crazy.  Thought it was because she needed a paci, but apparently it was because she peed her diaper.  So, a fail there, but oh well we will keep trying.

I texted DH and told him DD went in the baby potty after her feeding and he was like we don't have a baby potty.  Haha, we do now.

I wanted to ask if anyone would share their experiences with EC and any helpful hints they might have for those of us just starting.

I ADORE your wedding picture. Everything in it is gorgeous! Also, I agree that it's a great feeling when you have a day full of catches. GL!

Thank you.... Ah I wish I could go back!

Yeah there is a lot of trial and error. On days we are home a lot it gets easier to figure out, but when out and about it gets tough. She starts getting used to going in the diaper again.  I will potty her away from home depending on where we are. I try to keep it to myself what we are doing.  DH has gotten earfuls about bladder damage, psyche damage etc from people (he loved telling people about it at first).

  • We EC as well.  It's hit and miss these days since he is often too busy to be bothered with the potty.  I try to just roll with what he wants to do.  It is true though that the more you do it, the less inclined they are to sit in a wet dipe.  I do cloth diaper, and I wouldn't change that for the world.   And, sorry, I'm not aware of any EC boards.  I've always just asked/shared about EC here.

Do you think it's  better to use cloth since they feel the wetness?  What do you all do out in public, like the mall?  Take them to the stalls or just use diapers normally?

What age did you start?  Thanks!

Do you think it's  better to use cloth since they feel the wetness?  I think cloth are better for the world, cheaper, feel nicer next to his skin, prevent rashes better, I could go on.  They are just better.

What do you all do out in public, like the mall?  Take them to the stalls or just use diapers normally? We always use a diaper, even at home, but I still take him to the potty in the stalls in the bathroom any time his signals, after every meal, before the car ride, etc.  I just hold him over the toilet in the stall.  This is easier in handicapped stalls with changing tables in them.

When he was smaller, and sometimes if I can still get away with it, I will open both my car doors on a single side of the car, sit with him on the front seat, and potty him out the door in the parking lot.  Judge if you must.  The doors provide privacy.

However, he's getting a bit big for this.  I'm investigating collapsable potties for the car because we live so far from town that any trip in is several hours, which we have to do at least once a week.

What age did you start?  Thanks! 7 weeks.  We have gone through phases of more or less diligence with it.  I didn't get DC on board until around a year maybe.  HTH!

Yeah, it's not his privacy that I'm worried about here.

Seriously, you let your kid sh*t on the ground in a public parking lot?

Are you serious? That is foul.  9084320482340923 stores carry portable toilets. I have the potette plus.  I would be so pissed if I was struggling with both of my kids and bags from a store, to find out that someone let their nasty ass kid pee/poop in the parking lot for me and my kids to walk through.  Dog waste has to be picked up, so why would you think human waste is perfectly acceptable to leave in a parking lot?

I don't want to step in urine or excrement from anything.  Seriously, have a little bit of respect for other people.
