Hello all. I have a question. Several places (including my work) have parking designated for expectant mothers. Some even say expectant mothers and mothers with small children. (This was a Godsend for me when I had a 2 year old and a newborn!) My question is:
When can you use the expectant mother parking? Can you use it as soon as you find out you are pregnant (which I haven't been doing) or is it more acceptable to wait until you are bigger and more uncomfortable before you use it?
Any feed back is greatly appreciated.
Re: Parking
When I was pregnant with my first, I used it for a quick errand on the afternoon that I got my BFP. I was so ecstatic to be pregnant when I got to the store I pulled in! I was only in the store to grab milk so I was in and out very quick. But I was literally beaming as I pulled into that spot! After that, I never used it again with that pregnancy. I felt fine and never had a need to use it.
With my second pregnancy I used it a few times in the 8th and 9th month as it made life so much easier since I had a toddler with me.
Honestly, just use it at whatever month you feel you need it! GL!
IMO expectant mother parking is for anyone that's expecting.
My personal habit is to not even look fo those spaces unless I feel truly tired though, and only when I'm visibly pregnant. In my area the malls that used to have expectant mother parking changed those spaces to family parking for anyone with children, or expectant mothers, and they added more of them. I think this was a good move, and probably very appreciated by all the dads that go shopping with the kids.
Like most of the PP's, I'd avoid those spots until you're really in need of them. Just imagine using one "just because you can" only to come out and see a heavily pregnant woman waddling from the far end of the parking lot when she could have had your spot.
Maybe I'm a softie, but that would make me feel bad.

This. I use one today, but there 6 other open expectant mother spots, I was dragging around my toddler, my back is killing me, and I look and feel huge.
This. I have just begun to use them, although I have no earthly idea how anyone in "parking security" or whatever would know whether someone in that space was actually an expecting mom... I mean do they watch, and then gauge your bump? These spots are a welcome relief right now, but I still find them odd.
