Hi ladies,
I am wanting to paint my nursery walls gray and have some modern fabrics with designs in turqouise, gray, white and yellow. I am struggling to find a decent chair that would match this color theme. I have seen some of the upholstered glider chairs that come in white or gray, but these are priced at $700 or more and I really can't justify spending that much. I have looked all over the web at the wood frame gliders, but can't seem to find any with gray cushions. I am hoping to find a decent chair that would match the color scheme for around $400 or less. I would love to hear about the chairs you have picked out for your nursery or any ideas you may have. For those of you with Ikea stores nearby, do they have any comfortable chairs that you would consider using in your nursery? Thanks in advance for the help!!
Re: question for those ppl with gray walls in nursery
I have gray walls with white polka dots. I have a beige la-z-boy.
We have grey and aqua walls, but went with a neutral-colored recliner/glider (I think the color is oatmeal). IMO, grey would be too much with grey walls - you almost want something to compliment other features of the room.
We got the Storytime Tryp, so it was more then $400. But, I've seen lots of people post about finding great recliners at Walmart - have you checked there?
Our walls are a light - medium grey color
We got the Poang rocker from Ikea. We went with the dark wood frame and the white cushion. The cushion cover is removable and washable. But I am considering covering it with some fun fabric, since I'm sewing all of my other nursery items as well.
There were some mixed reviews online from people who have used it n their nurseries b/c of getting in and out of the chair. But I've practiced trying to get up and down from the chair with a baby in my arms and I think it's gonna work just fine. The chair is really comfortable and I think it cost around $160. It can be a little less or a lot more in cost depending on which cushion you get. I remember there was a grey option but it was expensive.
Target has a grey glider for $449, we actually bought it and returned it because it was a bit darker than we wanted, but quality wise it seemed great. Comfortable, seemed well made, has good reviews...

We're painting our nursery gray when we move and we have a beige rocker, but originally wanted an ivory glider. I think ivory looks good and you can find them for cheap. Just an example with multiple fabrics to choose from...

I have grey walls and I got a dark brown recliner. It doesn't have to be the same color as the wall--I would get a beigey color and you could either cover the cushions with the teal you are wanting to use or some other accent color.
As far as Ikea goes--I tried the Poang chair that people are recommending and I thought it was INCREDIBLY uncomfortable. So I would try it before I bought it. It does look nice, but it just wasn't the chair for me--it was too deep.
This is the chair that I am ordering. It is SOOOO comfortable. I haven't decided on the color/pattern yet, but the nursery will have light to medium gray walls.

Thanks so much for all of the ideas!!! I am looking into all the suggestions and very grateful for the additional opinions.
I have this glider & I love it! Sitting in it right now. I have white walls with a grey horizontal stripe. My grey wall stripe is pretty dark slate grey, and my glider is quite a few shades lighter. It's incredibly comfy & I highly recommend it. Only downside is, as far as I can tell there is no coordinating ottoman. I just ordered a pouf from Land of Nod (via Gilt).
