2nd Trimester

what comfort shoes do you wear?

Hi ladies, I have been a lurker for a month. I'm 18 weeks today and started to feel my feet is getting wider and wider that I can no longer wear my Clarks sandals.  I have tried Birkenstock sandals but they're too hard for me.  Old Navy flip flops are  too narrow and no arch support.  I have sensitive feet.  First, I wonder if I'm the only one who has a wider feet during 2nd trimester.  Second, I wonder what kind of comfort shoes do you wear?  Appreciate for any feedback!  Thanks in advance! Smile

  • I resorted to flip flops for a while but those are even starting to hurt now.  I stole my husbands Crocs for a few minutes the other day and oh man did they feel good.  They are too big for me but if I find a white pair I may buy them.  My mother in law wears them all summer long, her foot doctor said they are actually good for people with wide feet or foot problems because they allow extra room.

  • I have not had pregnancy related foot issues yet, but my feet are generally picky about shoes.  I walk around my house in a pair of under armor slides that have the cushy sole.  Feels better than bare foot.  I also wear Nike sandals out to my kids ball tournaments because they have arch support.  The ones with the cushy sole are very narrow, so I opt for one of their other styles.  When the weather is cooler I like Ugg boots.  They are soft and comfy and no ties!!
  • I teach and swear by my Dansko clogs.... they are great for standing all day, wonderful on my back and the arches of my feet. They're expensive, but they last. I have one pair that is six years old and still provides the necessary support.

  • I read yesterday that the same chemical in our bodies that allow our pelvic ligaments to stretch also allow the rest of the ligaments stretch including the ones in your feet.  I also find that my regular flip flops are not some comfy anymore, I am finding that I wear my tennis shoes and Sperry's more and more.

  • I wear aerosoles to work, i got some pretty sparkly sandals.  I wear crocs at home on our hard floors.  We just got back from a weeklong trip to Disney and the most comfy ones were my flip flops with about an inch of foam on the bottom.

This.  When pregnant with DD I had to borrow flip flops from my mom to wear the last month.  I'm was a size 6.5 and hers were a 8.5.  Post pregnancy I went down to a size 7. :(. I just bought myself a pair of sandals in a size bigger to hold me over.  You can always try and did shoes in wide

  • Well, my Clark sandals are still comfy. I also wear my Sperry's a lot, and I have some Me Too ballet flats that are always comfy. Flip flops, even my Clark flip flops, are out. I don't know what it is about flip flops, but they cause my feet too much strain. I need something around my heel.

  • Love my Chacos!
  • Yellow Box Ffipflops are my go to shoe choice in summer. I work from home though so I don't have to go into an office. When I do have a client meeting, I can stuff my feet into my one pair of Tory Burch flats that still fit.

Clarkes are naturally small so I can imagine they do not fit well right now.

I love my Yellow Box. They sell them at Dillards and DSW, plus lots of boutique type shops. Or online. Some are plain and some are really cute.

  • I wear OrthaHeels all the time. They make sandals and closed toed shoes. They're not terribly cute but they have excellent arch support.

  • I haven't noticed that my feet are wider, but I'm definitely more comfortable in flat, well-made shoes lately.  Easy Spirit has a lot of comfortable, flat shoes.  I've been living in flats for the last few weeks (I'm just about 22 weeks).  There's an Easy Spirit outlet nearby, and I've scored a lot of great deals there.  I don't know what it is about their shoes, but they are SO comfortable.  Highly recommend them!

I live in my Tevas as well. My feet have been ok so far, but if they do get wider, I have some Crocs at the waiting. I also got a pair of Birks, but you said they were too hard for you. They do require a little breaking in, but once they are broken in, they are AWESOME.
