I think I may need to buy a totally new wardrobe...

I'm not so worried about pants yet, because I have a pair of pre-pregnancy shorts that fit already, and I can live in yoga pants all summer anyhow (don't go back to work until mid-August, so I have time to fit in the other pants).

My shirts, however, are all too tight and too short. My boobs got so much bigger during this pregnancy and will be staying this way for a while thanks to breastfeeding.  So I'm wearing maternity shirts and a few big t-shirts(because even the size medium t-shirts have the tight/short issue).

Anyone else having this problem?

  • Definitely know how you feel! My best friend and I were just talking about how nobody tells you that you need an "in between wardrobe" for between maternity clothes fitting still and when your pre-pregnancy clothes fit. I've had to buy new shirts already and I got some hand me down bigger jeans for the mean time but I definitely prefer to live in my previous sleep shirts and yoga pants

  • I know how you feel.  All my shirts that fit me flowing and wide are now too tight around the boobs.  It is funny b/c I don't feel that I'm that much bigger but I guess the clothes don't lie.

This happened to me last time too and I bought a few bigger tops and a few pants one size bigger to get me through the transition.  I think it took me about 4-6 months to get back to my PP pants and shirts.  By 9 months, everything PP fit.  Your boobs will probably not stay as big so you will probably fit into them later.

  • I have been a bit down about this, too. I found a few cute tops at Target to make me feel better. :)

  • I know I need a new wardrobe for work.  I was planning on just wearing my maternity slacks when I returned to work (they are so comfy), but I was actually given a promotion to a new position so I will have to wear suits and look very professional upon return and none of suits even fit before I got pregnant.

  • With some of my pre preg shirts, I'm a little weird about wearing b/c I have to pull them down every so often. Otherwise they're a little tight but fit - if that makes sense. But I mostly stay home. Then I remember that my 40-something year old MIL tends to dress like she's still a teenager (some shirts actually show about 1 or 2 inches of her stomach) & so I think nothing I'm actually willing to wear is that bad!!
  • I wish I would have known about the in-between-wardrobe too! I don't go back to work until the end of this month but there is no way I am going to get back into my pre-pregnancy clothes by then. I gained close to 70 pounds during my pregnancy and while I've lost almost 40, I'm still not close to getting into those clothes. My plan is to wait until the week before I go back and pick up some pieces but it will probably break me to try on such huge sizes and look in the mirror. I tend to avoid mirrors at all costs now and have been calorie counting and doing at least a hour of cardio/light weights four days a week and it's slowly coming off. Been living in yoga pants and x-large t-shirts and praying every night for my metabolism to work!!
