September 2012 Moms

anyone else feeling behind?

30 weeks, and her nursery is STILL not even started yet!

well, i guess we have "started" a little bit. we've cleaned up all the stuff that had become piled up in the second bedroom and have now started to take it to storage or Goodwill, depending. but other than that, we haven't bought ANYTHING. the only things we have are those things that my mom, MIL, and sister have given us, or that people from our church have passed along (little girl clothes, extra diapers, etc).

we're trying to hold out on buying anything until after my shower in four weeks...but i just feel so behind.

am i the only one who is this "behind"?

  • Nope, you're not the only one!  We have the necessities, clothes, car seat (currently at my parents house), crib (still in box needing assembled).  The nursery currently has mine and DH's mattress sitting on the floor, we are sleeping there until our room is done (needs paint and a couple more coats of mud before we can move into our room).  And I have a feeling that LO will be here early

This exactly!  Working on a different house as we speak.  I have some clothes, diapers, a few misc, all packed away in a chest.  That's it.   I see nursery pictures and feel totally jealous.  Oh well, that's my life!

  • I only have a few pieces of clothing that was given to me the other day. And now with my baby shower being cancelled. I guess I need to get busy.

  • I'm right there with you all. We have a few things (some clothes, a pack of diapers, and a crib/mattress), but the people who installed our floors f'd up so they had to be removed. Hopefully we will have properly installed floors by Friday and can work on the room next weekend if not then we will not be able to do anything until mid August!

  • You're definitely not alone. We live in a 2 bedroom apartment, and the spare bedroom for the last 3 years has been DH's self-proclaimed man-cave...and we haven't done any real disassembling yet. We used to have a couch in there, and we were able to find a new home for it, and we've started the process of cleaning out the closet in there, but we're only about half way done.

At this point, we have the crib---no mattress yet in there and assembled, and next week we're getting the dresser for the nursery painted.

Other than that, I'm holding out for the showers. Luckily, my sister and my SIL said they'd be happy to help me get the nursery together after the showers (which aren't until August!)

I just keep thinking...if the baby comes early...we're SOL!

  • I feel behind because the summer is flying by. I still have a ton of classroom stuff to do including maternity plans before little one arrives. I feel like we have very little for our guy too. We do not even have a car seat yet so we could not bring him home.

  • i'm not able to paint at all because we live in an apartment that doesn't allow us to change the colours of our very-white walls. so that much sucks, but i'm able to decorate with wall hangings and such, and i haven't started on that.

  • I'm definitely starting to feel the crunch. I'm trying not to buy anything new until August (saving money now, but I know a handful of people want to buy us something and I don't want duplicates), so I've just got stuff I've found great deals on used.

We also aren't setting up a traditional nursery at all, but will be attaching the crib to the side of our bed sometime in August. It will be a bit annoying, so we don't want to do it early too early, but that means every day I see the crib pieces and get a bit panicky. I guess at least we *have* the crib...it just isn't together.

I'm feeling very stressed about clothes. Someone who works with MiL is supposedly sending us boxes of clothes, which is amazing, but I have no idea WHEN she is sending them, or what else we'll need season-wise. I think that is driving me the craziest - especially since I'd rather wash as much as possible before the baby gets here!

We have a lot to do between now and next weekend to get our house ready for a party, but after that I think weekends will become Baby Prep Central.

  • Our nursery is mostly done, but our shower isn't until September 1st! That part is freaking me out a little bit!

  • Some days I do, other days, I just try to get as much done as I can. It'll all come together!

  • I thought about writing a similar post to this. mH and I recently decided to move back home after living abroad for this past year. We had a room set up for LO with a crib and a few things here. We shipped the items home and are hoping they will get there before LO arrives. MH is also going to renovate our bathroom and bedrooms when we get back home. So, I am feeling a bit over-whelmed about having nothing ready for the baby, but I am trying to be optimistic and hopeful that it gets done before he gets here. If not, it's ok, MH can go to the store and buy a car seat and PNP while I am in the hospital and we can make that work until everything else is ready.
