Jumping on the big kid room bandwagon

We're going to be moving C's room to a bigger bedroom in our apartment (long story) and when we do, we're getting him a twin sized bed. He's such a restless sleeper, we still have the bumpers wrapped around the sides of the crib even as a toddler bed! A twin would give him so much more room.
Anyway - I planned for his room theme to carry over into toddlerhood, but all the bedding is toddler sized, not twin. They don't make it in twin size so we've decided to start from scratch.
I'm so sad though!! I LOVE his room decor. 
We want to do something he likes which narrows it down to Mickey Mouse Club House or cars (vehicles, not the Disney movie). Is Mickey Mouse too babyish? And has anyone seen neat bedding with cars/trucks on it?

That's true - cars/trucks would last longer than Mickey. I don't want something super cartoony - maybe something in between with bright colors that are easy to match. The hard part is if you google "car bedding" you get "Cars" bedding. Totally not what we want.

Haha! DH wants one (fulfilling some childhood dream, I'm sure), but they are so expensive and way too big for his little room. It would be so cool though!!

I am doing Ks new big girl room in Minnie and Mickey but I wanted something she could grow into too but wasnt too old for her either. I found a really cute vintage mickey and minne set on Amazon. I looked for just mickey and found a few not so crazy colorful ones.

Cute!! I love them both! My nursery and toddler room was Mickey Mouse and I still have my comforter from my bed. Needless to say, its in rough shape. LOL Totes vintage style.

I'm going to try to stay away from the theme-y bedding when we move C into his new room, mostly because it just makes it easier to decorate. Found this super cute fabric for you...
Maybe just google Car Fabric, there are a ton of options out there. Then find some local seamstress to make sheets for you. So many more options that way!
p.s. Carson is obsessed with cars also. Car might actually be his favorite word right now

I hate cartoony bedding. Go with something that coordinates colorwise in a pattern. you can even mix n match a couple different patterns.
If I have a boy I've thought of doing a road trip/ route 66 theme with vintage license plates and black n white road trip photography hanging on the wall. It's boyish, but not cartoony and can grow with him.
I dunno, I like some of the bright bedding - if its simple and more geometric. What I've found with the more mature looking bedding is that you can't really find comforters (which are usually much cheaper and cozier than quilts) with those kinds of patterns. The fact of the matter is that nothing is going to grow with him. I don't see one bedding set lasting for 10-15 years (both durability and style wise), so I struggle paying so much more for that mature look.....as classy and adorable as it is.
FWIW, I still have my comforter from my bedding set growing up and its been destroyed and patched up for decades. lol

I had this in my room growing up as a kid too! And my mom still has the twin sized comfortor at her house - haha! Maybe we'll use it for Jonny's room once he actually needs a comfortor. Right now he'd never keep that thing on him all night. He just cuddles with his little baby blankets.

I don't know how much you wanto spend, but I put in my info to see what shipping was and the total ended up being around $90 usd. They still added the VAT(tax) on though, which Im pretty sure you don't have to pay when shipping from the UK to US. So it really would be around $75 usd. But your have to ask since it didn't take the tax off automatically.
That would still be high for me, but I haven't been shopping for toddler bed sets, so have no comparison.
Eta: ugh, sorry for all the typos, I'm on my phone. Also, since when can I make separate paragraphs while bumpin on my phone?!
