2nd time Mom's who had a previous c-section

I'm only about 4 weeks along but the last two days my c-section scar is burning!  I'm assuming this is pregnancy related?  Did anyone else have this?

  • When was your c/s?  Within the last year or 18 months and I would think it would be normal but I really have no idea.  I haven't felt anything around my c/s scar so far (and I'm REALLY bloated, so I would think I would feel some pulling if I'm going go).

  • I spoke to a mom that said while she was pregnant with her 2nd her c-section scar burned. That woman just had a successful VBAC  a few months ago. There was another mom in the conversation, who is hoping to have a VBAC, who at the time was 11 weeks,  her c-section scar was burning too.

I guess it is normal. Confused.

Anyways find a local ICAN group. They are a good resource for anything c-section related. At least you would find other moms who c-section scars are burning.

  • With my last pregnancy, I swear mine burned before my BFP.  This time, it is just starting to burn, but I guess that is because I already stretched it out.  It is really really itchy right now too.
  • My scar hasn't been affected at all so far.

  • Not really... But I also can't feel anything around my scar. Totally numb spot.

It would make sense that it does. The scar tissue is going to start to stretch and that can cause burning sensation or itching. Now that makes me wonder how it will affect stretch marks? My scar from a belly piercing made one wicked stretch mark up the center of my belly...

  • I don't feel burning, but tight muscle achy feeling. I switched to a pair of maternity pants today and not having as much pressure on that area has helped out quite a bit.

  • My c was 7 months ago and I don't have any burning (or feeliung at all.)  I'm concerned for when my ute starts to stretch out though.

This! I am 25 weeks and still have had no c/s scar pain or burning. But my previous c/s was over 3 years ago.

  • I had a c-section just over 2 years ago and have not noticed any burning in the area of my scar, at least not yet. That does worry me a bit down the line though.

  • I wouldn't say it burns, but it has been uncomfortable at times.  I am sure it's completely normal. That area is expanding again.

  • Mine is still ok so for.  I just have a lot of RLP lately.

That being said, during my first pregnancy the scar tissue just under my sternum (from a lapro. gallbladder surgery about a year before) was soooooo uncomfortable the further along I got.  It burned, it was hot, it drove me crazy.  There was nothing I could do to ease the pain.  If that's what it feels like, then I'm guessing it's your scar tissue.  (And I'm really hoping I don't have to feel that...lol, the sternum pain was enough last time!)
