I can run, but I can't hide
I've been awful at dealing with IF. Awful. We've pretty much only told my mom and sister that we're battling this and our friends here we schedule things around cycles or completely avoid some. It could probably be handled better, but it works for us and right now I feel entitled to being a little selfish. Telling people is only going to illicit those dumb helpless comments that I frankly don't want to judge people with.
One friend of mine is in her late 50's. She asked me time and time again about us having babies and I finally told her it was a bad topic and filled her in on the details to avoid being asked again and again. She moved away, but still comes to town when her husband is here on business every couple months. She only has one daughter, because she also had IF issues.
She's in town now, but I am unable to meet up, because DH's grandmother passed away yesterday. As my IL's were introspectively discussing everything family related without directly asking when they'd be grandparents, I got a text message from my old friend, "sorry about grandma's death. I have good news, I'm going to be a grandma!"
So now not only is everyone around us pregnant, but everyone is going to be a freaking grandparent, too, except of course our parents. I didn't have the heart to tell my MIL yesterday that I'm actually waiting on a failed FET period. Impeccable timing.

I am so sorry. Honestly, she could have been way more sensitive to you. If she struggled with IF and she knows you are struggling - why would she do that? Some people are so horrible.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you, DH and your families.
I feel the same about my parents. I am their only hope at becoming grandparents and although they say they don't care if they ever become grandparents, I feel like they are the only ones of all their friends who arent grandparents... Just like DH and I are the one ones who don't have kids.
As for your friend... I'm sorry, but that's a terribly insensitive and rude thing to do. I would be upset and insulted if a friend of mine used a text to send her condolences and then in the same breath tell me she was becoming a grandparent.... Tacky and again, insensitive.
