C-sections

Just realizing

I am sitting in my room and the realization that I had a c-section hit me. I think that for the last week or so I have been running on straight adrenaline. I'm exhausted and so sore. I feel like I have multiple incisions even though I only see one I feel like there are more inside it hurts several inches above my incision. Breastfeeding has not worked out the way I thought it would. I'm worried that I may crash when my adrenaline runs out.  Any one feeling this way?

Re: Just realizing

  • You do have multiple incisions. One on the outside (skin) and one on the inside (uteris, I think?), so that may be why you are feeling pain away from the external incision.

Your body will continue giving you enough adrenaline to get through the things you need to but don't hesitate to ask for and accept help from others as much as possible.

  • Your skin, muscles and uterus were all opened up and then stitched or stapled. I am 4 weeks post c section and the soreness is now wearing off. I have been on pure adrenaline too. i sleep maybe 3 or 4 hours a day if I am lucky. DH helps, but not as much as I'd like. Like the PP said, take any help that is offered. I did have an emotional crash and burn this last week, but I think it's like that for most new moms. Just remember you had major surgery and try to take it easy. I know that is nearly impossible, but our bodies need to heal too.

  • I was in the same situation. Supplement without feeling bad about it. Ask people to come over so that you can sleep more. And, if you can swing it, go and see a naturopath.  They can help you to avoid the crash and can give you a tonic to enhance your breast milk supply a bit. My naturopath was the best support I had post C-Section.
