So what's this about sitting on a ball...

to help with labor? Or to induce labor?

  • I think it's supposed to help the baby drop and then help with the pressure.  I've been told to get one for the pain my sciatic nerve is causing.

  • helps your pelvis to spread so you dilate.  I'm sitting on mine now, hopefully it's working.

  • Just your typical exercise ball right? Crazy. I guess I will be breaking mine out in the next couple weeks. :)
  • It helps with back pain too.  And if you have roids, it takes some pressure off.
  • Yup, that's why it's called a birthing ball.  Though before I got pg. it was always a yoga or exercise ball to me!

    In our childbirth class we watched women bounce, rock, circle, etc. on the ball to help with labor.

    I don't know about using it to induce labor.

  • you can also squat - that will help the baby drop and move into position and spread your taint out.  I can't rememember the real name now.
