Anyone use Novarel?

I am most likely triggering with Novarel for my IVF (along with Lupron)

 

Anyways, today my nurse told me that I can actually take Novarel in my tummy & that I could use the needle size I use for my Menopur. How did you draw it up & take it that way? Same as Menopur?

 

Looking at the instructions, it says IM use only, so I'm a little confused! 


04/07/11- PCOS Diagnosis w/GYN. Put on Metformin (1500 mgs)
04/25/11- 1st consultation with RE (Confirmed PCOS & Anovulation)
05/09/11-HSG-All clear! 05/13/11-SA-Normal. Found out on 2/14/12, low Morph (1%).
06/17/11-10 days of Clomid (100, 150) No response.
07/10/11-03/20/12- 5 Injectable (Follistim) IUI cycles; 4 BFN, 1 C/P. (stims ranged from 11 days to 25 days)
05/28/12-Diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. 75 mcg Synthroid.

IVF with ICSI in June/July 2013 = BFP!. Beta # 1 = 123. Beta # 2 = 252. Due March 25th. Baby boy arrived March 27, 2013!

FET #1 - 10/4/14 = BFP!! Beta #1 = 179. Beta # 2 = 499. Due June 22nd.

    For this round I had novarel, first time it was generic hcg but for both I has subq shots. My packaging also said IM only but my prescription read subq. And my nurse confirmed. Mixing is similar to the menopur. Draw the diluent for the specific amount and then add to the powder then draw back into the syringe. I mixed with a 21G needle but injected with a 30G. I didn't start IM shots (pio) until after ER so I was more than happy with the belly shot!

    So you can't use the Q-Cap like the Menopur? You need to mix it with a larger needle & then switch over to the smaller one? My menopur needle is 27g, but I believe I have 30 as well.

    I used Novarel this time around for my trigger.  You do mix it like Menopur.  I was instructed to do it IM.  The Novarel did not come with a Q-cap.  The vial was much larger than for the Menopur so the I doubt the Q-cap from the Menopur would work on the Novarel.  I never used the Q-cap anyways.  I always mixed with the syringe that I was going to use for my injections.
    2nd ectopic resulted in loss of tube. HSG revealed remaining tube is "severely torqued".
    IVF #1: ER 03/29/10; ET 04/01/10: transferred 2 embies; Beta #1 (9dp3dt)- 45; Beta #2 (11dp3dt)- 91= BFP
    FET#1: ET 04/18/12: transferred 4 embies; Beta #1: >2 = BFN
    IVF #2: ER 06/20/12; ET 6/25/12: transferred 2 embies; Beta #1 on 7/5/12= BFN
    8/16: hysteroscopy for polyp removal
    11/11: hysteroscopy #2 for yet another polyp removal
    FET#2: ET 12/15/12: transferred 3 embies; Beta #1 (9dp5dt): 12/24/12: 426; Beta #2 (11dp5dt): 845= BFP
    u/s 1/9= triplets!; miscarried all three on 1/10/13...

    I have used novarel a bunch of times. Ignore the IM only....sub q is totally fine! I mixed 1 ml of the bacteriostatic water with the powdered HCG with a 22 gauge needle. I drew the mixed solution back in the syringe with the 22 then switched the needle to a 27 gauge and in the tummy it goes! GL!
