Help-Hard Stool? (X-Post from 0-3)

My 6 week daughter old has started to have some difficulty going to the bathroom. Since Sunday she strains and cries when going, and her stool is quite dry and sticky and comes out in a ball. She has gone every day, though. We started her on Enfamil A.R. 2 weeks ago for reflux, so her doctor doesn't think it is related to the formula because this didn't start until 13 days after she went on this formula. She told us to add a teaspoon of prune juice to each bottle, but it doesn't seem to be improving. By the way, we also think she has colic. She pretty much cries every night for 2-3 hours between 6-9pm. She spits up a lot less and seems to have less painful gas since starting A.R., but she still spits up some. Today, she has been projectile spitting a little. Any ideas of what is going on and how to improve it?

I think a little caro syrup may help too. Sounds like she is very constipated. If she has projectile spit up I would ask the pedi about that.

How many wet diapers is she having?? Is it extra hot where you live?? It sounds like she may need more water. My dr has always said in the summer if your baby has formed stools they are dehydrated and to give a small bottle of water. Also not all babies who cry have colic that's just a witching hour. All three of my boys had 2-3 hours an evening they cried its normal.
