1st Trimester

In week 12 of Pregnancy and in emergency twice in 3 days!! TMI

I am so scared on Wednesday evening I was in bed and experienced a gush of bleeding pinkish seemed like it was very watery... I was admitted in hospital Wednesday evening and was told they were not sure what was going on, and they tried to do an external ultrasound however they could not find the baby.... so I was discharged and sent home with instructions to return to the women?s health clinic for a 4D ultrasound the next morning. As instructed I did so and we got to see a very active little baby yesterday with a strong heart beat of 154 bpm..... It made me so happy and we were advised by the Dr. on call that the baby was fine, however this morning while getting ready for work I had a similar experience again only this time the blood was dark and not nearly as much almost like a rustic colour... so back to Emerg.... I go after several hours there they tell me I maybe having a miscarriage or I may experience bleeding during pregnancy either way I have been sent home to play the waiting game... Is anyone out there experiencing this I really need some guidance on how to feel.. Please keep my baby in your prayers...

Sincerely broken hearted mom to be?..

  • It may be a subchronic hematoma. Don't worry yet. It sounded like a strong heartbeat you had going there.

My cousin had a scary subchronic hematoma issue around the same time as you, and her daughter is now 1 year old.

Regardless, thoughts and prayers headed your way. Take it easy, put your feet up, and drink water.

  • Bleeding during pregnancy is always scary, and unfortunately there's no way to know how things will turn out. The Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy says that about 40% of pregnancies experience some sort of spotting or bleeding, and about half of those end in miscarriage. That means that there are plenty of women who have bleeding and go on to have healthy babies. My SIL is one of them, too. She had bleeding from weeks 5-14 and is currently 32 weeks pregnant with a healthy girl.

  • I had the same thing happen to me two bleeds... once at 5 weeks and another at 6 weeks followed by a month of brown blood.... I went to the emergency room where they told me the same thing ... could be miscarriage, could be just bleeding..... went to the doctors and baby was fine!! They did see a bleed in my uterus.. a subchronic hematoma, which they said I shouldnt worry too much about it usually goes away and it did.. Im 12 weeks and baby is fine.. emergency room doesnt really do much to help.. I felt worse after going there... Keep your head up.. I think you will be fine.... by the way did you have sex recently? its funny..the night before my big bleed we had kinda rough sex which can sometimes stir things up... :)

  • No the last time we had sex was on Tuesday morning which was more than 24 hours before the bleeding started. Thanks for sharing your story.

My thoughts exactly on the SH - I had one and it freaked me out!  I had pink and brown discharge and at one point there was a bit of red - in retrospect not a lot but enough to freak me out.  My doctors put me on bedrest for almost 2 weeks, I drank lots of water and kept my feet up and was on pelvic rest up until 12 weeks.

Thoughts and prayers are heading your way!!  This type of spotting in pregnancy is mroe common that many of us realize and in most cases - women go on to have a normal pregnancy and healthy baby.  (((Bumpie Hugs)))

Last Wednesday evening (I was 13 weeks), I had a lot of blood come out and rushed to the ER. The bleeding stopped after an hour, they did an ultrasound and saw the baby with a healthy heart rate. They couldn't find anything wrong and sent me home. I went to see my doctor last Thursday and they did another ultrasound, everything was fine with the pregnancy and they had no clue where the blood came from. My doctor just told me that while bleeding isn't normal, it is common and it could happen again, but there isn't anything they can do about bleeding. I've had some more brown spotting with one instance of red spotting this week. I know it's hard to not stress. I'm right there with you. I hope everything turns out well for you and your baby. It's always good to see the baby and hear the heart beat!

  • Scary day today for me!  I had some bright bleeding earlier today and am lucky to have my OB clinic 1 1/2 blocks away from my work and because I am O-, she wanted to see me to make sure it wasn't terribly serious.  Turns out it was a "scant" amount internally and we did have sex last night, so she chalks it up to that.  I did get to hear the heartbeat (don't tell my hubby, as our appt. for that isn't until Tuesday!)  BUTT she gave me the Rhogam shot anyways just in case it was something else bleeding and didn't want to get into an RH anti-body situation.  Which you get in the rear end-can't remember the last time I got a shot in the butt!  Very relieved!
  • No advice but I hope it's just harmless bleeding and you and baby will be fine and healthy! Keep us posted.
