Former dairy free moms - a ?

Ok, LO was dairy free and breastfeeding until she was about 21 months. So I was dairy free too. She does fine on dairy now, so we are all eating dairy, which is great. The problem is - I've GAINED 10 POUNDS! WTF? I'm actually thinking of giving up dairy again... Did this happen to anyone else?

  • Well I gained 40lbs but that is because after weaning I got KU :-)

I'm glad to hear there are no longer dairy woes in your house! H still cannot have it and the new baby has MSPI. It is good for losing the pregnancy weight though.

So does your DD eat all dairy including cows milk like a regular person who never had dairy issues? Give me hope :-),

  • We don't do cows milk at all in this household - DH thinks it's gross. So we do almond milk. But LO does real butter, yogurt and cheese. Oh, and ice cream. She does not like a ton of dairy, so I would say she has cheese or yogurt 3-4 times a week. Butter on toast and pasta and veggies, so she probably has butter every day in some form or another. It's not a large amount of dairy, but she seems totally fine with it. Her main problems, that I could tell, that came from dairy were congestion and gas/irritable stomach. Around 21 months she didn't react to the cheese we gave her, so we kept giving her dairy. She does get constipated pretty easily with dairy, but as long as we push fruits on her when she has cheese she's fine. She does have a bit of what I think might be eczema on her back that comes and goes, but it's not severe and doesn't seem to bother her. So, long story, I guess she's like a regular person? lol. I hope thing settle down for you all too! It does suck to be on a limited diet...

Butter....mmmmmm. Yep, she gets the regular person stamp of approval from me. :-). I always disliked CM too. We seem to always have cm, soy, almond, rice and breast milk in the fridge at any given time. My preference is also almond.
