LH surge right before AF?

Before everyone leaves for the weekend, remind me again, is a LH surge common right before AF? I tested with an opk just for the heck of it because of the EWCM the past few days and it was totally positive. Just curious if I need to make private time for DH and I this weekend or if it's a good sign that AF is on the way..

    How certain are you that you already ovulated?  Could be a late ovulation.  Have you had an issue with weak ovulation before?  You could have geared up and never released.

    This is what I was thinking. 

    The only other thing I could think of was that since LH and HCG are similar in chemical makeup, HCG can (but not always does) cause a positive reading on an OPK. But I was definitely thinking what 10-4LilBuddy was thinking as the most likely reason...

    I'm on cd 29 but my temps only jumped for about 3 days this month and then dropped again and that was about 9 days ago, I was blaming that on my thermometer. I actually never got a + opk during the time I would expect to normally O, and I spotted for a full 7 days, cd15-cd22. I'm thinking that may have been a very light period, and I just had a crazy short cycle and in reality this might be cd 9 of a new cycle?

    If I had to guess, your body just needed to adjust after your medicated cycles and delayed O.  You've got some convincing signs you're fertile...I say you need to spend some quality time with your man this wknd.

    If I had to guess, your body just needed to adjust after your medicated cycles and delayed O.  You've got some convincing signs you're fertile...I say you need to spend some quality time with your man this wknd.

    I don't think you would get an OPK+ right before AF (although I do think you can have CM signs throughout your cycle).  I agree with the other ladies that it sounds like you are getting ready to ovulate.  Good luck!

    Well I certainly feel like I'm ovulating today, I'm having a ton of cramping on my right side. I told DH he's on call for the next few days, we shall see when I get my bloodwork if this is in fact O time.
