I am so excited, my DS has sensory processing and just turned 2 yrs old last week and still isn't talking. I have been working with OT and ST for about a month and have become very knowledgable about SPD. I have been working with him, with the help of my mom creating sensory boxes, etc. We have been using signs to try to communicate when we say a word. I rec'd a text from my mom while I was at work and it said "your son just signed "more" and said the word when he signed it. Then he signed "all done" when he was finished." I called from work and she put the phone to him and said tell mama "more" and he did it!! I almost cried. This is such a huge step for sensory kids and only those of us who have a special needs kid can appreciate how big this is. I have seen so many changes in him this last week. It amazes me. Each new thing he does makes me more excited to continue with his therapies. Sometimes I feel alone in this whole SPD world, and having a little support and words of wisdom or advice from the others on this board can really help. Thanks ladies for letting me share. Pls share your stories of SPD successes/brags. I'd love to hear them.
