With previous babies, I've tried to be reasonable with the majority of my purchases and splurge on just *one* thing and then stick to a budget for the rest.
With dd1, it was the nursery bedroom set. With ds it was the diaper bag, with dd2, it was the stroller (which now does me little good since I want/need a double). I just haven't decided on my splurge item this time around.
What about you? What item are you splurging on?

Re: What's your "splurge" baby item
The glider.
And I've been going nuts with CDs. Though I haven't bought more than I'll need for an initial stash.
I really lucked out with DS, I was still working for the outdoor company I had been with for many years and scored 2 awesome strollers and outerwear for complete steals. Now, staying at home their is no chance I would EVER be able to purchase them.
For this LO we need to get the 2nd seat for our BJCM and I'm hoping Santa will bring me the PPB abundance boxy backpack.
Stroller.
Now, that is what I'm down for splurging on. DH has other ideas.... He's the picky one in this household. /sigh
I went CRAZY when we first started. I ended up with nearly 70. With just one in diapers. And, at least half are very obviously girl haha.

~Today I am pregnant and I love my baby~
That makes me not feel so bad!!! I just took advantage of the BG buy 5 get one free promo so that made them about $17 each! Becuase of that deal I felt bad getting $28 Swaddlebees and $24 Bots Tots!
We are trying to budget the bedding and nursery furniture, and we're down to the final selections for either gender. And we have family that is already calling to ask if they could buy us this or that...which I'm not telling them no :-)
However, I really want one of those awesome gliders with an ottoman...my birthday is in October and I'm thinking I'm going to ask my hubby if I can buy myself one of those as the birthday gift from him.
With DD1, it was the infant car seat & stroller.
With DD2, it was the double stroller.
With this one, it's going to be the ergo. I've only heard awesome things about it and I fully intend to use my discount code for registry at Buy Buy Baby to get one!
Hellopoppyseed- we got the minivan right around DD2's 1st b-day. I was anti until we got it, now I am it's biggest supporter. I love my minivan!!
Not really a single item.... but books. We've already bought several board books, picture books, and early chapter books. Not to mention the collection of YA books we have from our own days.
I'm not kidding you when I say we have our own library. An entire room of full bookshelves, plus 3 ereaders.
This kid better be a reader. ;-)

I "know" you are right. We went to see them this week and I'm starting to come around.
I wish I knew how to double quote, I'd add the PP who wanted a new Bob jogger. I just got a new double BOB off Craigslist for a price I can pretty much turn right around and sell it at in a few years! I can't say the same for my Joovy single, which doesn't have the hot-hot-hot demand that a BOB does. The BOB is like buying a Harley in terms of value staying up.
I've been jogging twice since buying it yesterday, and I used the BOB both times. LO screamed last night when I took her out of it, after already having run an encore trip up the road just to make her happy. That never happened in the other stroller.
This was my splurge, but does it still count if I plan to get our money back??
So far our biggest splurge has been this dresser for the nursery.
When I saw it, I fell in love with it, even though it was pretty pricey! I have a feeling that it is just the first of many splurges! Poor DH's wallet!
We already have the ergo, and didn't really like it for DD - but I will try again. But definitely the minivan! Although I kind of want another diaper bag, too...
With DS - he got nice furniture, a glider, a nice diaper bag and a nice stroller.
With DD - We got a double stroller and the above mentioned Ergo. We got a cheaper crib and dresser for her!

Baby B was my rainbow born at 36wks on Nov 27 2012
We're remodeling the 'spare' room for the nursery- we just painted and put a new floor down, we plan to do custom built in books shelves and some decent trim and baseboard. It'll be the best looking room in the whole house!
My parents have generously offered to purchase the crib and changing table
Stroller for sure...Uppababy Vista. I am waiting to see if I can find one onsale or possibly used.
If we weren't living overseas I wouldn't spend this much on a stroller, but without a car this will be our main vechile so to speak.
I am coming to the States next week for a visit and hope I can find one on Craigslist while I am visiting.
We are very fortunate to have a huge family that loves to give. We didn't have to splurge on anything because it was all gifted to us at our baby shower. We did splurge on a double stroller once we became pregnant again.
This time around, we are keeping the baby furniture from DS2 and he is moving into DS1's room. We are talking about splurging to decorate the new room for the boys since we have everything we need for the new baby already.
