Recommend your mobile

We have a Baby Einstein ocean soother that attaches to the side of the crib and he likes watching it, but we have recently discovered his absolute fascination with ceiling fans so we are thinking that we should get him a mobile.

Reason being, he wakes up in such a happy mood that he will just lay there laughing and talking--he can't turn on the soother himself yet, so at least the mobile would give him something to look at while he waits for me.  AW: last night he slept 12 hours!  Well, 8.5, eat, and then 3.5 more.  So he spends a lot of time in that crib.

I was looking at the Tiny Love Sweet Island Dreams but it's really expensive so I don't know.  Suggestions?  Money isn't an object if it's worth it though.

Re: Recommend your mobile

  • I made ours with brightly colored origami cranes hanging from a small grapevine wreath. When the fan is on in their room, the cranes move in the breeze and they love to watch them. They also love to watch the fan.

  • Make sure you get a battery or electric one. We have the wind up one and it only lasts like 3 minutes and you have to go wind the damn thing again.

AGREED!  If they love it, a "manual" one is more of a distraction than a sleep aid.

  • I don't know the name of ours but it projects either onto the mobile shade thing or the ceiling. It has 3 sound settings:heartbeat, nature or music. LO will be able to turn it on later. It is battery operated and has a remote. Ross loves going to sleep and waking up to it. We have the aquarium too but this works better for us getting him to sleep.

  • We have the Fisher Price twinkling lights projection mobile. It projects stars on the ceiling and the animals are little lanterns that light up. It also comes with a remote. Max really likes it. I think it was between $50-60 at toys r us.

  • I got the fisher price discover and grow twinkling lights mobile and she seems to like it. It has music and a projector or light up mobile. It's battery operated and has a remote which I've got to work from my room. The music and lights go for about 10 minutes. I've been putting her in the crib with the mobile on at night and most of the time she will play quietly under it. Twice now she went to sleep on her own while it was playing.

  • Thanks!

Ernie: I wish I was crafty enough for that!

Jk: We are definitely going battery operated; no way am I winding the darn thing--I learned my lesson from the manual one we had on his PNP

DH and I are going to BRU this morning to look around.
