Hi everybody. For some reason I was unable to get onto this board for several weeks. I missed my chance to announce Lauren's baby being born (I was her buddy but she knew about my technical difficulties), but I'm so glad he is here and I can't wait to meet him. In other news I had a major surgery which repaired my umbilical hernia, ventral hernia (extreme diastasis) and a tummy tuck. So I can pretty much guarantee there will be no more ebabies. We decided to do the surgery this year bc I got asked almost every day when I was due. I basically looked four months pregnant even after losing all my baby weight and more. So, we found a surgeon and went for it. Part was covered by medical insurance and part was out of pocket. It just depends what is going on with your body but there is no such thing for the tummy tuck portion to be covered. But it does help with costs if you have an underlying medical issue, for instance, my surgery took 4 hours when it was scheduled for 3.5, but since it was part medical, the extra time was covered. Recovery has been difficult as there was a lot of muscle manipulation and bruising in my surgery. I am happy I did it as my muscles would probably not have supported another ten pounder and I really want to enjoy my new tummy while I am still relatively young although I will have to probably wait until next year for a bikini.
Re: Greetings.
You weren't alone, I kept having issues once they went back to the "old" way.
Sounds like you have been busy on your end. Glad your surgery went well and you were able to get something done for you, along with the other medical stuff handled.

I am glad your surgery went well and I hope you heal quickly!!
I often wondered if I might not have needed/will need surgery. I lost all of the baby weight plus some from DD#1 and I still looked pregnant - no matter what I did it seemed like the ab muscles just wouldn't come back. I am especially concerned with this new baby coming up because I also face the possibility of a hysterectomy during the c-section and I'm convinced my stomach is going to look even worse. How did you end up getting the diagnosis that led to the surgery? Was it through your OB? Or did you go straight to a surgeon? Was it a plastic surgeon?
Well, the way I did it was to ask my PCP at an appointment. She sent me to a General Surgeon who told me he could fix it but not to my cosmetic liking. So we started shopping around and asking for recs for a Plastic Surgeon. Plan on being at the surgeon's office for 2-3 hours to get the diagnosis, surgery plan, and financial information at each consultation. I got three consultations. Most Plastic surgery consults are free. Just FYI, my umbilical hernia was obvious, it "stuck out" and did not require any other "proof" for certification to be covered by my insurance (this helped some - probably saved us about $1000 or so). The rest of the work was considered cosmetic regardless of how out of wack my muscles were. Since my surgery was so extensive I am going to ask the surgeon to resubmit the claim to see if that changes anything with the insurance company.
