When I think Hugh, I think of Old British. When I think of Miles, I think of a new car. Joking! I think of that butler off of The Nanny, whose name is Niles, for some reason.
Hugh has grown on me a lot, and now it's on my short list if we ever have a boy. I like the British-ness of it and the fact that it's familiar, but not popular at all. I don't care about the Hefner reference.
It does have a totally different feel to me than Miles, though. Miles feels more 'modern American' and Hugh feels 'classic British' to me.
I agree with this. Hugh is much more uncommon than Miles so it isn't a pairing I'd come up with, but they are both nice names and there is nothing 'wrong' with them as a sibset. kwim?
My Mom told me that I would have been Hugh if I were a boy.
I wonder if all Hughs turn their heads when people yell "Hey - you!"
My H is Hugh and he never turns his head when people yell this, but when he is at Starbucks and he gives them his name they almost always write "Q" or "Que" on his cup. I have no idea why people would assume Q was his name over Hugh, but it happens constantly.
OP- I am obviously partial to the name, and if we ever have a boy we will use it as a middle name. The first thing I think of (besides my H) is Hugh Jackman, and IMO that is an amazing thing to think of when you hear a name! I think it sounds really good with Miles.

Re: What comes to mind when you hear this boy's name?
Rich people. Whether he's the one with money, or the chauffeur.
As for Hugh, it also makes me think of rich people. Someone who owns a vineyard or a company in NY. Or perhaps an artist.
I love Hugh and have it on my list for a possible DS#2. I think of an intellectual British type.

Hefner...that's my first thought.

I kind of like it now.

Jackman
Laurie
Grant
Honestly I think of those three actors not in any particular order. Screams "British" to me.

First thoughts: British, wealthy, sophisticated, Hugh Grant
I actually really like Hugh!
