Hi all, just wondering, is liquid coming from my nipples common in pregnancy? I squeezed them tonight lightly and a teeny bit of white liquid came out of one of them, clear in the other. Is this normal during early pregnancy?
I think it is normal, but I don't think it is that common this early. With my DD I started leaking around 16 weeks and leaked the whole rest of the way. I had to wear breast pads the whole time I was pregnant. With this little one it might be different because I am still nursing DD, at least for another month or so.
I have had leaking since I was 18 and went on BCP's. My doctor had me go through a few tests to make sure it wasn't anything more serious, but in the end turned out to be that I have borderline high prolactin levels, so the BCP's pushed the level above "normal" and caused some nipple discharge. Once I went down to a low dose BCP, it decreased drastically, and when I went off BCP it pretty much went away entirely.
Because of my borderline high levels, though, when I got pregnant with my DS, I had a tiny bit of leakage my entire pregnancy, more as I got closer to the end. My doctor said that was normal for me.
So, in the end, I would say that it wouldn't hurt to mention it at your next appointment, but most likely it is just a normal part of your pregnancy.
