Ok...so I have been trying to figure this one out...reading the other boards and such....is it ok to go get a pediure? what about the foot massaging part..? thoughts or experiences?
I know there is an area on the back of the ankle that is not to be massaged. I told the pedicurist not to touch that area the last time had a pedi. im sure there are other issues as well
It's totally fine. I work at a boutique that does pedicures and the girls know what they aren't supposed to massage on pregnant people. This is my third pregnancy and I've gotten pedis with all three with no problems.
I have done some research on this and mani and pedis are totally fine because the polish does not come into contact with the skin. Obviously make sure it's a nice place that is up to the health code to minimize the risk of infection (which should always be looked out for pregnant or not.) However, unless you totally trust your technician, reflexology type massages (on hands and feet) should be avoided since they invovle pushing some pressure points-some of which can harm the baby. So stick with a gentle massage and pamper away.
Its fine - just make sure that it's a reputable person doing the pedi, and make sure they avoid the back of the foot/ankle area as those are the trigger points for labour .

Your nails are pourous, so yes, the chemicals in the polish can be absorbed into your skin.

I dont know about the massage part, but I do know that if you are the type to constantly have fake nails or polish on your fingers, polish or fake nails on your toes, and armpits always coated with deodorant, then your thyroid is unable to breath properly and could lead to health issues. I will have to study up on the massage part.
