Re: Thursday GTKY:
When I grew up I wanted to be a preschool teacher because my mom was.
I don't do that now I guess it didn't really appeal to me once I was an adult. I did teach for a while, but it was high school not preschool. I think being responsible for that many kids that little would totally stress me out.
My major in college was studio art, with a minor in art history. Then I went to grad school and got a masters in education and my teaching credential for high school English.
My job now relates to my minor, not my masters. I did student teaching and the whole nine yards, then there were no teaching jobs, so I was a sub for 2 years... one year of which I had my own classes as a long term sub, once that was over I knew I couldn't go back to subbing regularly and there were still no jobs. Sooo... I went back to my old path and got a graphic design job, which is where I am now.
I learned this pregnancy that I'm allergic to ultrasound gel! I had these lovely red bumps on my tummy but they didn't look like pupps or anything else I'd heard of... I noticed they seemed to get worse after ultrasounds (which I have every two weeks because I'm high risk)... so last time I went to the OB he agreed it's a skin allergy. Last ultrasound they used pap-smear gel (ha!) instead... and now the bumps are almost gone! Yay!
Bonus points, who doesn't love a dancing dog?
Married the love of my life 7/11/09 - Our first baby, Peyton Mark, was born sleeping 10/25/11 at 33 weeks - Our second baby, BFP 2/4/12, welcome to the world Raylan! Holy Moly, BPF 2/4/14, please be safe and sound little one!

1. What did you want to be when you grew up? A fighter pilot. I didn't end up going that route but I did go into the military.
2. Do you do that now? Why not? Nope. I had planned to retire from the military but at that stage of my life I wasn't feeling it. Now I wish I would have stayed in. I would be retiring in 6 years.
3. If you went to college, what was your major? Sociology
4. Does your job now relate to what you majored in? Not even close. I do accounting type stuff. Hate it but after I have this baby I will *hopefully* going into corrections which my degree can apply to.
5. What's a totally random fact about this pregnancy? I don't have any randomness....yea, I'm boring.
CRAFTY ME
my read shelf:
1. What did you want to be when you grew up? Really little: a grocery store cashier - swiping stuff across that scanner looked so fun. A little older and into college: a veterinarian.
2. Do you do that now? Why not? Nope. Short answer: my heart wasn't in it.
3. If you went to college, what was your major? Food Science (yes, that is a real degree)
4. Does your job now relate to what you majored in? Absolutely
5. What's a totally random fact about this pregnancy? Fact: I'm enjoying showing sooner than with my son. When it comes to 2nd tri and having the cat out of the bag, it's nice to have a bump to go with the news - helps it spread faster. And the stretchy pants don't hurt either!
6. Bonus points for a random fun PIP.
Eek - went looking for Magic Mike gifs (you're welcome, btw) and got a little spooked at the images coming up on my work computer. Sorry, I'm lame!
OMG, I want that dog, how cute is he??

1. What did you want to be when you grew up? I always said I wanted to be a teacher but I have no idea why, I would have been a terrible teacher.
2. Do you do that now? Why not? Definitely not. I realized within a day of moving into my dorm that I needed to find a different career path and finally looked into various business majors.
3. If you went to college, what was your major? Hospitality and Tourism Management
4. Does your job now relate to what you majored in? I am not working at the moment so no, and my last job did not relate either. The job opportunities are so limited in my area that I've had to take what I can get, I have used skills from classes related to my major such as marketing, sales, HR, business law and accounting
5. What's a totally random fact about this pregnancy? I have actually been less worried about this pregnancy than last pregnancy.
6. Bonus points for a random fun PIP.

4. Does your job now relate to what you majored in? Well ... I guess you could call it that. I work in a hospital for vets, and part of my job does include auditing patients' service records to see if they're really qualified for service. There's a type of justice to it, but not much criminal justice.
5. What's a totally random fact about this pregnancy? I want my son to be here and healthy and in my arms, but I'm enjoying him so much in utero that I want to stay pregnant longer!

When I grew up I wanted to be a veterinarian. While in high school, I thought I wanted to be a mixed animal practitioner, but later changed my mind in college. I've known what I want to be since 8th grade.
I do that now - I started in traditional day practice for 4.5 years, doing emergency relief work throughout for extra money. 10 weeks post-partum, I started doing relief for a different ER practice, and ended up being offered a full time job. I handed in my resignation to my then current day practice on the first day back from maternity leave.
My major in college - pre-veterinary medicine & biology. Then, professional school.
My job now relates to - yep. I only did the ICU rotation for 3 weeks in school, and never really thought I'd end up doing this full-time. However, it lets me be an almost full-time mama and a full-time doctor. It also affords me the opportunity to let my H stay home with our daughter.
I learned this pregnancy - too soon to tell...but I'll say that this little embryo is a miracle. :-)
