So I went to get a partial highlight last week. It had been about 8 weeks since I had been and I had about 3/4 inch of roots showing.
I did not get a blow out, mainly because I got a last minute appointment and there wasn't time.
So I didn't really see the final result until I got home. And I still have a very distinctive 3/4 inch root at my part. It has a few blonde streaks cutting through it - but overall you can still very much see where my natural color was and the highlights did NOT blend it in.
I sent her a facebook message about it and she asked if I could stop in so she could see. I did. She said that I just had SO MUCH natural color that her highlights couldn't cover it up. It's not that they didn't take, because you can see a few streaks cutting through the roots here and there (like little stripes of blond hair cutting through the brownish rectangle of roots). She says we should probably add in some low lights to blend it.
She did not offer to do this for free. Pretty sure she expects me to make another appointment and pay full price. I have a problem with this because I am pretty sure the cost of a highlight/lowlight is only slightly more (like an additional $10-$20 for a 2nd color), not double the price. And I think if this is her area of expertise she should have known what would have been needed to give me teh color I wanted. I showed her pictures and stuff before we got started.
If I have to pay full price again (and higlights aren't cheap - it was like $150), I am thinking of going somewhere else.
Would you?
Re: would you fire your hairdresser?
Okay - here is a photo so you can all properly judge.
It looks like total SH-T, am I wrong?
I meant to mention in the earlier reply - Quite true, pregnancy hormones do do wierd things to your hair, however for a standard highlight, bleach is bleach, and that basically just cuts through everything. If she used a high-lift color, this could contribute to the color tone problem, but to me sounds like her placement and quantitiy was the issue.
Sorry, I just saw this pic after I posted...she effed up. Go somewhere else. Sorry, I don't want to make you feel bad,
but your concerns are valid.
