I had a phone interview with medicaid yesterday and she said she was finishing my paperwork yesterday and I will get a letter in 1-2 weeks. Then she said if i need to go to the doctor before I get my letter to call the medicaid office and request a temporary card. I asked her if that meant I am already approved and she paused and said, you'll get your letter in 1-2 weeks. I'm confused... are they not allowed to tell you you're approved over the phone? My question is does anyone know if I get my temporary card am I really covered. I have my first appointment on Monday and I really don't want to reschedule... Thanks ladies!

Re: medicaid Q
They actually have up until a month to approve or deny you... and believe me, I've seen them wait the entire month with some patients! The good news is, any appointments you had that are considered "baby related" in the past 3 months will be paid if you are accepted. If you haven't received your temporary card yet, you should just be able to tell your doctor what insurance you have and they can quickly look you up in the system to see that it's pending and they will most likely charge you the $3 or $4 copay.
The caseworker that you have won't tell you if you are approved. Heck, you're lucky if they return your calls. You will most likely have to wait for a response by mail.
