1st Trimester

Needing a second opinion!

Hey everyone! i just found on last friday i was pregnant! :) We have been trying for 3 years and this was our second round of the clomid pill, so as you can tell we were VERY excited to get a positive test.

How ever, last night i took 3 more tests and they all came back negative. I also have been having a little bit of cramping almost like i am going to start my period.

I called my doctor and we did a blood test, we haven't gotten the results back yet, but i was just curious if anyone else has gone thru anything like this????

Re: Needing a second opinion!

  • I'm sorry, I haven't been in that particular experience, but I wanted to tell you good luck. What brand test did you use for your BFP?  Sometimes you can get a false positive with the blue dye tests, I believe.  Or, you can get false negatives with some less sensitive brands.  But hang in there, you'll have your answer soon enough.  And FX for you that it turns out good!  I was ttc for over two years and went through two unsuccessful rounds of clomid before turning to holistic efforts that ended up working out.  So I know how anxious you are right now.

    Good luck!

  • I'm sorry - if I were you I'd try to be prepared for anything. I would try to stop testing until you hear back from the doctor.

[I know it's hard to do! If you have to test though make sure to use FMU and I'd use a sensitive test like a FRER]

  • I had a positive test and then a negative doctor's test, it was a chemical for me.  But I'll suggest what others have - use a FRER with FMU.  I got a clear positive on a FRER like two days before I could get a positive on anything else!

  • I've not been in your position but I've always heard testing first thing in the morning in best.  Its supposed to be when your sample is more potent because its not diluted and has been in your system the longest.

    Best of luck to you!

  • For the tests that came back positive i used clear blue and first choice *i think is what it is called*

And then for the ones i got a negative, i used the answers brand.

    Thank you very much

  • Thank you very much! i am trying to just be calm, i haven't tested anymore
