Every Wednesday I have class from 11a-1pm, so I get out of school starving and always stop at Wendy's.
Today, as I pulled up the angel on my shoulder said "Have a salad! It's good for you!", and the devil on my other shoulder said "No, no...you are CRAVING hamburgers. Have a #1 combo with cheese and everything on it!"
When it came to be my turn to put in my order, I stuttered and then sadly said "I will take a small side salad and a grilled chicken sandwich. Plain...no sauce."
As I ate the sandwich, it tasted like sandpaper to me because I was still envisioning biting into a big, juicy burger.
(sigh) Dieting sucks.
Do you do this, too? Do you fumble over what to order when going out to eat or to fast food?
Re: I hate eating healthy...
Well...I am going out Saturday night for my birthday, so maybe I will have a carb/fat overload then. The margaritas alone will take care of that.
Woot Woot!
Can I just say that I'm slightly (ok completely) jealous that you are dieting? I was on WW when I got pregnant this time around (surprise pregnancy), and while I am thrilled about the new baby, I was bummed that I had to quit WW. I had lost 12+lbs (of the 70+ I want to lose) and was finally feeling better about myself and my body. Now I get to see the scale hitting numbers that I swore I would never see again.
So just know that some one is as jealous of your salad and bland chicken sandwich as you are of their cheeseburger.
I do this too. And just so you know, it's inspirational to hear you actually got the salad. I usually always stutter and then end up getting what I shouldn't! So, no you're not alone in the "dieting sucks" world.
See though...with you being pregnant that is a different situation. You have to eat more calories for the baby, and sometimes have to give in to those late-night cravings. Enjoy yourself, diet later!
This isn't the "norm" for me. I usually give in. But...I have my high school reunion coming up, and want to look hot. That is my main motivation. Well-- that and the fact my son wants me to swim with this weekend at a public pool.
I feel your pain. I am on WW and had to stop by McDonalds because I had to run an errand at lunch (I forgot to leave the baby her milk at daycare ugh). I ended up with a southern style chicken sandwich and didn't eat the bun. The chicken alone was 7 points and the bun would have been another 4! I did also cave and get a sweet tea and small french fries. Ugh, the total meal was close to 20 points, thats half of my daily allowance!
Note: McDonalds does have a really nice nutrition fact website and I enjoyed playing around with it and adding/deleting ingredients to the items to see how it affected the nutrition.
Their salads are pretty good. I want to try the berry chicken salad. That looks awesome!
