Had my 37 week appointment today and after the cervical check she said I was still way high up, not dilated, not at all effaced. I know I'm a FTM and this is completely normal for 37 weeks but a few of my gfs are also FTMs and are or were further along at this point. I've been carrying low the whole time and I can feel lots of pressure, assuming she was dropping. I want her to come on her own when she and I are both ready but it was just a little demoralizing on top of being extra emotional as a standard lately.
Ok, pity party over. Back to ironing crib sheets.
Re: Flameful-ish sad about no progress rant
Do you know how many people walk around 3+ cm and eventually require induction? It means absolutely nothing that you are not progressed at all. If you were 41 weeks and closed, thick and high I would have a different opinion.
I am so convinced of this fact that I am declining cervical exams until 40 weeks for 2 reasons. 1. I dont want to hear what I am (or am not) and get depressed or excited unnecessarily. and 2. I don't want my doctor to strip my membranes until 40 weeks. I would like to labor at home with intact membranes for as long as possible and stripping membranes weakens them so they are more likely to break earlier in labor.
I am a former labor nurse and just so we are clear, these were all my intentions the first time with DS#1 but we all know what happens to best laid plans. I was induced (after a membrane sweep) for pre-e. water broke at 3 cm.
heres hoping things go my way this time.
This is the only flameful thing about your post. You are taking nesting to a whole new level.
Your progress, or lack thereof, means nothing.
(read it. you know you want to.)

Yeah.. and my jeans. Type-A to the core.
You and my grandma could be bffs!
I was 1cm dilated with no effacement at 37 weeks. I had made no further progress at 38 weeks...whomp whomp. It is hard to not be frustrated but it really means nothing anyway. Hang in there! You are getting close.
I was 3cm+ for six weeks and was still almost induced (I went into labor at 41w6d on the day I was scheduled for an induction). Try to relax - cervical statistics, while they can be exciting and informative, shouldn't be a reason to get discouraged because they're really no indication of how much longer you'll have left. I know how you feel, so hang in there mama! Baby will be here before you know it.
And iron those sheets all you want if it makes you feel better.
Yup, ditto! You're getting there but I know it's frustrating (I wasn't really caring about my progress w/ DS- I was 2 cm starting @ about 36 wks and had to be induced around 39 wks for high BP)- w/ DD (#1) I was so ready for her to be here by the end! I was 1 cm starting around 31 wks, now 2 cm- so yes, even women who are dilated can hang out there for weeks!
GL- you'll be there before you know it.
