I usually make my baby food but a friend gave me some plum organics squeeze packs. Almost all the flavors, no matter the fruit/veggie listed have apples as the first ingredient and water second. Sometimes the "featured" ingredient is last. No biggie in the grand scheme of things but I think this is one of the more expensive kinds of baby food so if i was buying it i wouldn't want to pay for primarily apples. Just thought someone might want to know

Re: FYI plum organics baby food
What? Their food is fruit and sometimes water. Mangos = just mangos, Peaches = just peaches.
AKA your post is not accurate.

I don't think so. For the combos it still only has the fruit, veggie, and sometimes lemon juice. I really don't know what you are all talking about.

I didn't say you made it up. I just said you were wrong. Not all of the lines fit what you are talking about. The fruits and the original combos don't have apple (unless apple is the ingredient). The grain blends and yogurt blends appear to be what you are talking about.

I don't care about baby food. I care about accurate info. Your OP made it sound like all PB foods are like you described. The info you gave is for 2 of the many lines they have.
And, I think reading baby food jars is pretty common practice. Especially when buying a new brand of food. Sorry you feel like you got ripped off. But, that could have been prevented.

Thanks for sharing the info. I didn't take it as you being the end all expert of information. I wouldn't entertain OP's negative criticisms. This board is for sharing, which you did and I appreciate. It is up to us as readers and mothers to decide what we believe and take. Thanks again.
Seriously, why so defensive? OP was trying to be helpful, and I know I've been fooled when I didn't have time in the store to read through every ingredient and went just by the name. Who would think that "zucchini banana & amaranth," for example, would be have apples as the main ingredient?
This! I don't think Katie is being defensive at all. Just pointing out that all Plum Organics isn't made with apples as the first ingredients. That's all she wanted you to know. She didn't want the misinformation out there and then a whole parade of Bumpies jumping on some ridiculous band wagon.
The Yogurt and the grain kinds are made with apples as the first ingredients. I'm assuming because once you add the grain/yogurt it needs some kind of binder to stick with the other ingredients. And spinach and grain together doesn't sound one bit good, so I'm sure they had to add something else for taste. Kind of like making a salad. Would you just want plain spinach with a little bit of dressing on top? Some things need to be blended to be good.
The other ones are not. What you get is what you see. That's all Katie kept trying to point out and it's almost like you wouldn't believe her.
Wow...didn't think this post would blow up like this. Here's what I got out of the OP.
My friend gave a bunch plum organics pouches and almost all the flavors that she gave me list apples as the first ingredient. So read the ingredient list and don't just blindly buy the pouch.
She never said ALL Plum Organics use apples as a filler.
And now I really want an apple.
Maybe it's just me, but I only post when I want responses.
Also, ::FLIPS HAIR:: I only make my own baby food. Exclusively with organic ingredients. B/c otherwise I would just be a HORRIBLE mom.
I'm honestly shocked that you felt mothers of 9-12 months old didn't already figure out how to read baby food labels.
Thank you, Captain Obvious.
Agreed. Totally uncalled for. FTR, I took the OP as meaning that all PO foods were apple and water based. I get you were trying to help, but be absolutely clear next time. As mentioned, misinformation like that (either implied, assumed, or blunt) can lead to an unnecessary boycott of a perfectly fine food.
WOW I never said I feel sorry for your babies/husbands and I never said they were liars just that there were additional ingredients. This is why I don't post on the age boards. Jeeze. Everyone (including myself) blew this up over nothing. Whatev
Since when does being honest or pointing out a different opinion mean we're snarky and rude.
Please show me where me and Katie were "yelling" at you and then we'll talk.
Nope..just you and your stick. Pull it out already and go away.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
Um, yeah. This whole post is ridiculous.
I'm moving over to 12-24 early.
bwhahahahahahahaahahahahaha....
I just got back to this post and it is so ridiculous. No one was rude or snarky in this post but the OPer. Using the C word = classless. Take your ball and go home, because really, you lost any credibility you had with that post.
Giving accurate info does not equal snark.
