Fainting

I fainted twice yesterday my doctor sayed its fine, but i still feel a lil on easy today :s i really dont like the feeling kinda scary.

Re: Fainting

  • I've fainted too in this pregnancy!  Also went to the doctor to check things out, and she said that it's nothing to be too worried about.  Now, I'm trying to figure out what my triggers might be. I'm trying to eat a more iron/protein rich diet and drink lots of water, which seems to be helping.

    Good luck to you!

  • I had a fainting spell in the middle of a busy pedestrian walk way a couple of weeks ago. I hate, hate, hate making a scene in public and this was mortifying beyond belief. Given that I have never fainted in my life I brushed off some of the warning signs and just thought it was typical pregnancy symptoms. At first my chest felt really tight; I was walking with my husband and I could barely catch my breath as we walked. Then, I started getting fatigued, then woozy, then I started to see black dots and that's the last thing I remember before I slumped against my husband and on to the ground. Apparently I was pale as a sheet and quite bewildered. I didn't have much to eat that day and my husband thinks my blood sugar was low so I always make sure to have something in my purse to eat at all times, I try to stay hydrated and if I start feeling woozy I immediately sit down. So far so good, no more fainting spells:)

  • I almost fainted (pretty much still fell to the ground, room got dark, etc) about a week ago in the locker room at the gym. I was embarrassed and scared at the same time.

The nurse at my docs office wasnt overly concerned either and wanted me to tweak my diet with more protein rich foods. I don't think it's a diet issue, I think I may have took too warm of a shower or my blood pressure was too low (I was only borderline normal last visit)

I have my next appt on friday and plan on bringing it up with my ob then. It was so scary and I don't want that happenning again!

  • I guess doctors just don't tell women that blood pressure does dip in early pregnancy, and that this is not only normal as in not uncommon, but that it's physiologically necessary to support that baby? Medical HBP cases aside. It's what tells our bodies to go ahead and make more blood to support and nourish the baby!! In the meantime, they ought to tell us to stay hydrated, don't stand up too fast, don't lock your knees when you stand, and eat frequently!

I had to read a book to find all this stuff out for myself, I mean, sheesh!

  • I had dizzy spells twice while cooking dinner last night. I know my bp is much lower than normal right now (though thankfully it has gone up slightly from my first visit at 8w!) and I just try to sit down and put my head down and take deep breaths when it happens. I think last night it was a combo of the heat from the stove and locking my knees while standing. Sheesh.

I know it's normal but it totally sucks. I'm able to eat more normal foods now so I'm trying for more red meat, iron-rich veggies and water!
