Tips for sippy cup success

Does anyone have any tips for getting my son to successfully take to a sippy cup? He kinda gets it...but only when we hold it and him like he's getting a bottle. When we give it to him in his high chair, he just bangs it up and down or flings it on the floor. We are looking forward to ditching the bottle too. Thanks!

  • I am in the same boat. Curious to what others say. I just bought the Born Free Sippy today. My DS has used born-free bottles all along and I am hoping this will help transition him.

We use straw sippys so there is no tilting involved... she hasn't figured out the full tilt yet.

This. We tried the regular kind first and she just wasn't getting it so we got a straw cup and she's been doing great with it.

  • someone here recommended the OXO sippy.  This is the 4th one we tried and finally we have success.  No straw though.

  • I tried a few and decided on the Tommee Tippee ones. I found it was easier for DS to get the water out than with other brands. He just had to learn to tip it up high enough for the water to flow down. For a while id just tip up the bottom for him and now he does it himself!

  • I just kept offering it to him and eventually he stopped playing with it and started drinking.  He still drops it off the high chair tray when he's done drinking, but he's getting better about that.

We started with the Nuk soft sippys with handles and now he uses the taller cups with no handles.

  • Zoli sippy cup!  It has straw that reaches the bottom so no liquid will be left in cup!
