Adoption

homestudy/locking meds

If required by your agency, what do you use to lock up your meds?  What kind of container do you keep them?
TIA!

Re: homestudy/locking meds

  • We were told that it would be sufficient to use a fishing tackle type box or at tool box and put a padlock on it.

  • We put ours in a big rubbermaid box and then put it inside of one of the high cabinets we had put a magnetic lock on on the kitchen.

  • Well you can do a couple of things.  You can get a tackle box or something that you can put a padlock on. I installed a magnetic lock, you can get at any baby store, and that worked well.
  • We found the tackle box method easiest....

  • My husband actually made a box that fits an upper cabinet which has a lock on it.  It works for us, especially with the little shelf we added.

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

  • What we've done, is take our entire hall closet, and put a lock on it. As long as the key is up high and hidden we're good to go.  It actually works out really well for us.

EDIT:  We also keep some of our cleaning supplies and other "stuff" that the kids don't need to be getting into :)
  • We bought a safe at Lowes.  It can be unlocked using a code or a key which great for us since DH is always misplacing keys.
  • It was suggested to us that we get a petty cash box to lock up our meds in.
