2) Stay Dry Hemp doubler - This is the same as our Hemp Doubler, above, (three layers of 55% hemp, 45% organically grown cotton) but topped with a layer of virgin Malden Mills 200 weight polar fleece.
Machine wash hot, with cold rinses, 5 times, tumble drying in between. If you want to you can use a little bit of detergent too.
If you had less I'd say boil them for half an hour, but I don't know how you'd find a pot big enough for 24 prefolds.

We got insanely lucky and scored an almost complete GMD prefold stash, used, for $100. Almost everything was fully prepped and lightly used except for one dozen prefolds, which were still sealed. I decided to boil them to prep them and it took me forever! I did 3 at a time in the first round, 20-30 minutes each batch, with some blue Dawn dish soap. It took forever because I used the same water twice before emptying it and boiling fresh water. I decided to do one more round of boiling with 2 prefolds each time, with non-soapy water. It really did take a looong time, but it was much better than paying for my building's laundry over and over.
I agree with PP about washing on hot, rinsing, dry--repeat 5 times. I was just going to add that when I did my prepping I added towels and sheets to my loads so I didn't feel like I was wasting so much.
