We've been going back and forth between names for our little boy, but I just found out that Isaac means "he will laugh" and that might have sealed the deal.
What do your baby's names mean? If you don't know the gender do you know the meaning of your top boy and girl picks?
Happy HDBD!
Re: What does your baby's name mean/stand for?
Ooo, a Mosesian feminist, I like.
We're not picking names based on their meaning; I was just amused that the one we liked the most had the most awesome meaning, IMO.
I like Samuel Alan. We were thinking of Sam too.
DS's name is Solon Alexander, and we call him Alex...yeah I ended up being "one of those people." here's the story though: Alex is the 7th generation to have Solon in his name, It is DH's middle name, FIL's middle name and was FIL's Dad's first name and so on. So we had to use it. We had our names narrowed down to Alexander and Ian and when I saw his little face I knew he was an Alex. However our last name also starts with "S" so Alexander Solon S___ was out because his initials would have been ASS, yeah not doing that to the kid
So that's how we ended up bein those people that use a nickname from his middle name as his name.
As for baby 2, we have no idea really. We're Rossi out all possibilities at this point. We would like to use David because it is my Dad's name and he was an only son that had all girls do I'd like to honor him.
I guess for the most part we just go on family meaning more so than anything else.
Your kid's name sounds like a party! Wine and music! m/
ETA: I never answered the original question! DD's name is Victoria Ann which means "favoured conquerer". DD2.0's name is Malibu Barbie, which in the Greek translation, means "I am awesomer than you".
Ahahahahaha! Pray.... starting now.
Quinton meaning the "Queen's Place" and Daniel(mn) after FI. My first name means "the King's meadow/forest" so we thought it was pretty cool.
As for the new DS...no clue yet
We don't know what we are having yet, but our girl name is Adabelle. It is a derivation of Ada which means noble or honorable.
Our Boy name is Barrett which means bear strength, or bear-brave. We actually chose Barrett because of its association with the .50 caliber sniper rifle.
Right now the name we are liking is Dylan Twain (for our little girl) Not sure on spelling of Dillon/Dylan but we want to make she she doesn't become a Lynn/Lin ....
Dylan/Dillon - we like the unisex names on girls
Twain - Our fav place in the world Twain Harte, Ca

German: Meaning Strong
This was not even known by us until we looked it up years after deciding the name when we would have a baby. So meant to be.
Both Sarah and Abraham laughed when told they would have a son, they waited longer than ever imaginable to be parents. Isaac's story is one of my favorites and one of the reasons I love the name Rebekah but I'm not sure I'll ever use it.
As for DD's names, Emma means "universal", which is nothing special to us, but I found a name book with spiritual meanings of names and it was said to mean "absolute faith". Our faith is very important to us. Mei is her middle name and it is Chinese for "beautiful". DH spent a year living in China while we were still dating. He always liked that word, it has a great meaning, and we wanted to incorporate a time of relationship that was very critical in establishing our commitment to one another.
We have only gotten so far this time around as to agree that we both like the names Thomas and William and that there are "too many" good girl names. I don't have high hopes for deciding any time soon as we went to the hospital last time with 20 names still on our list and that time we could at least narrow it down to girl names!
That's so sweet!
So we chose the name before we knew the meaning, and after i found out the meaning i thought it was perfect. I, myself have an unusual name and am asked all the time what the meaning is. In hebrew it means "coming of the dawn" and while i have worked in retail i have been told that my name in persian means "princess" and in aribic it means " flower or blosssom". So our daughters name will be;
Aurora = Dawn
Elise = consecrated to God (Also my middle name)
Marie= bitter <------ not to excited about that. (My moms middle name)
Abigail = "Father's Joy" (Hebrew), named after DH's grandfather Abe.
Lily = "Flower", named after my grandmother Lillian.
Abby's Hebrew name is Amira Chaya - Amira = "Princess" (in Arabic) and "Treetop" (in Hebrew), named after my grandmother Mira. Chaya = "Life", named after DH's great grandmother Chana (my Hebrew name is Chana so we couldn't use the same exact name).
DD2 is Charlotte Harper, named after DH's great grandfather Charles and my grandfather Howard... we also picked Harper because DH's grandmother plays the harp professionally and Harper literally means "Harp Player". Charlotte means "Free". We're not set on her Hebrew name but I think it'll be Shira Leah. Shira = "song", Leah = "weary".
This makes me so f-ing happy!
Awe! Thanks!
